OK Go on net neutrality: A lesson from the music industry

"The lesson is that insider's clubs don't nurture the best ideas, which is the whole point of markets: Competition is supposed to keep everyone on their toes. Sure, it's a drag that the radio plays such bad music, but it won't sink our economy. Can you imagine, though, what would happen if we let the same thing happen to ideas themselves?

"Now that the Internet has been around long enough to have developed its own giants, though, we need to make sure they don't ruin what's great about the technology that made them. We need to make sure they don't crush the idea industry the way the music giants crushed the music industry."

Dear DHM family,

First and foremost, some very happy news! We'd like to announce the very first DHM staff wedding (that we know of) - owner Gary Lennox and marketing director Lindsay Polak were married earlier this month in Boulder. Their reception featured excellent musical entertainment provided by DHM instructors Jimmy, Mirco and Adrian - thanks, guys!

Next, our fall Teen Intensive Rock Workshop and Adult Fantasy Rock Camp are slotted to begin soon - please check out the links below for details, and if you know a musician who would benefit from one of these programs, please forward this information to them!

Over the last several weeks we've been pleased to host a number of great artists in Studio A: Kentucky band Cage the Elephant (in prep for Red Rocks, where they opened for one of our all-time favorite bands, Stone Temple Pilots!), Philadelphia-based singer-songwriter Amos Lee, and local pianist Derek Amato doing a video shoot for the Discovery Channel. We also recently got to know Denver-area band It Prevails (relocated from Portland), whom we hope to see around the Dog House often in the future.

We hope that you all made it through the recent wildfies here in Colorado without any damage - enjoy the new fall weather, and hope to see many of you at camp this fall!

Thanks          Peace          Gary
