Talk the Talk With Your Sound Engineer

"The engineer in charge of mixing your monitors and mixing front of house (what the audience hears) can make or break your show. Technical issues shouldn't get in the way of the show, but the reality is - they often do.

"Getting a good monitor mix during sound check is essential to allowing you to deliver your best possible performance. - learn how to interact with the engineer(s) so you can get the best mix possible."

Today at the Dog House

Dear DHM Family,

Yikes! It's been awhile since our last newsletter - it's been an incredibly busy fall season, but we're happy to report that our fall programs are well underway, with four teen bands and two (!) adult bands. All bands are preparing for our November 22 show at the Fox, so please mark this date on your calendar and come see some great new bands!

We also want to let you know about a new DHM program in development: Team Rock corporate teambuilding. This program stregthens team dynamics for any work group, and includes both a Musicians' Package and a Music-lovers' Package (for non-musicians). Look for a new web info page soon, but feel free to spread the word!

Over the past couple of months, we've been honored to host several great local and touring bands in Studio A: Matt Morris, Thao + The Get Down Stay Down, Karl Denson's Tiny Universe, and Anya Marina are a few of the amazing performers we've hosted. Tomorrow (Wednesday) evening we're looking forward to having freestyle singer Johnny O in to film with CCTV54 (Citizens' Community Television).

We'd like to take a moment before signing off to remember Lester Polfuss, who passed away last month. After changing his stage name to Les Paul, he pioneered the solid-body electric guitar, one of the foundational elements of the rock & roll sound, in addition to a wide range of recording techniques. Thanks, Les.
