Tech Watch: Gibson's New Self Tuning Guitar

It's every guitar player's nightmare: you step onstage, strike your rock-god pose, triumphantly strum the first chord of a song -- and discover that your guitar is out of tune.

A new line of instruments from Gibson Guitar now promises to banish this scenario to the dark ages with high-tech self-tuning technology built into the company's flagship electric-guitar models.

Our Fall Intensive Workshop series in now underway, for teen bands or individual players who want to develop a full set of original material. This year we're working with five teen bands: Downfall, Flipcrash, Corsica, The German Pterodactyl Project, and Capital Punishment. The Adult Rock & Roll Fantasy Camp is also in progress, with one as-yet-unnamed band. Our final show will be at 1:00 pm Sunday, November  4 at the Fox Theater in Boulder -- these bands need your support, so please come down and check them out! The Onion will be sponsoring the show, and will be getting involved in other Dog House teen music programs.

New DHM clients: in September we hosted Rose Hill Drive in Studio A, and this weekend saw the Pearl Street All Stars featuring George Porter Jr. (the Meters), Papa Mali, Joshua Redman, Adam Deitch, Kyle Hollingsworth (String Cheese Incident), and Jans Ingber (The Motet) rehearsaing for Mountain Sun's Funky Good Times bash. In other DHM news, I and many of the teachers are gearing up for our January trip to NAMM, the music industry's largest trade show. We'll be finding new sponsors for our teen programs and promoting Dog House to music VIP's of all varieties. (Current DHM sponsors include HotPicks, Dunlop Strings, Elixir Strings, and Daisy Rock Guitars.)

Adult Rock Fantasy Camp

DHM's five-session Adult Rock & Roll Fantasy Camp is still accepting new players. This camp is geared towards new adult players, and those wanting to return to music. Attendees will receive instruction from our teaching staff, and work with other adult players to learn covers or write original songs, with a final performance for family/friends. Parents of DHM campers, this is for you -- why should your teens have all the fun?
