Our Summer Rock & Roll Camp for Teens is over, after a record-breaking nine weeks. Attendance this summer was nearly twice last year's, and included campers from all around the US, as well as from Europe and Asia. I will be sending out the end-of-camp feedback survey, so please keep an eye on your inbox. Also, CDs of final performances were mailed today, due to an error at the print shop -- please accept my apologies for the delay.
We're now gearing up for the fall Intensive Workshop series, for teen bands or individual players who want to develop a full set of original material. We have confirmed November 2 for the final show at the Fox Theater in Boulder. Teen bands who've completed this program have continued to play in Denver and Boulder at local all-ages venues, and receive ongoing assistance from the Dog House in getting gigs. DHM teen bands have been featured at the Boulder Creek Festival, the Louisville Downtown Street Faire, and other major events!
In August we added Salvador Santana to the list of illustrious bands who've spent some hours in Studio A, along with blues greats Papa Mali and Henry Butler. We've also hosted some well-known local musicians as part of the John Stadler Blues Hour on Boulder's Channel 54 -- video and audio taping is done in Studio A every month.
Thanks for all your enthusiasm, excitement, and patience over the summer -- looking forward to seeing some of you during the fall program, which is now eligible for Independent Study credit in the Boulder Valley School District.

Intensive Teen Workshop Series
DHM will begin the fall session Intensive Rock & Roll Workshop for Teens in September (view flyer here.). This program teaches teens the fundamentals of songwriting, music promotion, and live performance; in the past, bands going through this program have had the opportunity to play their final show in great local venues including the Fox Theater, where we are booked for November 2. We can accommodate existing bands or individual players. Returning students call Gary for information; new students please fill out this registration form (PDF file).
Adult Rock Fantasy Camp
DHM's five-session Adult Rock & Roll Fantasy Camp also begins in September. This camp is geared towards new adult players, and those wanting to return to music. Attendees will receive instruction from our teaching staff, and work with other adult players to learn covers or write original songs, with a final performance for family/friends. Parents of DHM campers, this is for you -- why should your teens have all the fun? |
