Vestry Shepherd Ministry
The Vestry Shepherd Ministry is one of the stewardship of the
co ngregation.
The Vestry wants the congregation to know that they care about them and are thankful for them. The Shepherd Ministry is a once-a-quarter contact with each family done by a vestry member. This ministry is not about money or any resource need. It is about thankfulness. The Vestry Shepherd will remain with a family until the vestry member's term is over.
The initial Shepherd contact will be in person or by telephone. We want the initial contact to be very personal. Subsequent contacts will be by a number of means including mail and email.
If you have a pastoral need, tell your Vestry Shepherd she/he will pass it on to Jim+.
If you do not wish to have any contact, let your Vestry Shepherd know and we will remove you from this Ministry.
If you have praise or complaint or a suggestion, let your vestry Shepherd know.
You are special.

Safeguarding God's Children Training
Safeguarding God's Children is a training program for the prevention of sexual abuse of children and youth. The training informs participants of the ways predators gain access to and groom children for abuse and it outlines the safeguards the Church has put in place to protect children and youth in our churches, schools and diocesan institutions.
The Diocese of Texas requires this training for all employees (full or part-time) of churches, schools and Diocesan institutions and for all volunteers who work with children and youth in any ministry setting.
St. Andrew's recommends Safeguarding God's Children to all adults of the parish and requires it of all employees, leadership of the church and all adult participants in any phase of work directly with children or youth. This includes all scouting groups and school youth groups, and non-church children's activities. There are no exceptions.
Training:
Date: January 14, 2012
Time: 9:00 am - Noon
Childcare provided upon request
RSVP - Anne Harland anneharland@sbcglobal.net

Posts from the Mission Field
St. Andrew's is an outwardly focused church. I believe this is the heart of Gospel life. Both Andy2Go (outward worship) and The Church has Left the Building (outward service) are church community based outward expressions of St. Andrew's.
I would like us to showcase your personal stories of exercising your gifts, passions and talents for the glory of God out in the mission field of Pearland, Friendswood, Alvin, Houston and Manvel.
What is your story? Big or small, we want to share it. Email a summary to me. Pictures would be great. Single person or a group.
YOU ARE THE CHURCH and the Church is where you are.

Year of Connection
2011 is the Year of Connection for St. Andrew's. 2010 was the Year of Outreach, where we focused on reaching those in the community who needed God help and love. This year, we will Connect. · Connect with God · Connect with Our Neighbor · Connect with One Another · Connect Our Neighbor to God Why? Because God asks us to be deliberate in pursuit of each. In fact, all of God's Law can be summed up in Connection. God - "'Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.' This is the first and greatest commandment." Matthew 22:37-38 (NIV) Neighbor - 'Love your neighbor as yourself.' (Where our neighbor is defined as all those around us and not just those we like or are close to) Matthew 22:38(NIV) One Another - There are over 80 "one another" passages in the Bible, urging us to strengthen our Connection with other Followers of Christ - church membersIn fact, we cannot separate these Connections. They are intertwined. 'Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters ofmine, you did for me.' Matthew 25:40 (NIV) Anyone who loves God must also love their brother and sister. 1 John 4:21 (NIV) Do not forget to show hospitality to strangers, for by so doing some people have shown hospitality to angels without knowing it. Hebrews 13:2 (NIV) Dedicate your year and yourself to being Connected. |

Quin Loan Pay Off
The leadership of St. Andrew's has some GREAT NEWS to share with you.
As you know, we were all committed to retiring our Building (Quin) Debt Loan. We are happy to report that by year's end, we will have paid off the Quin Loan. This leaves us with two building loans left to retire. One we are taking care of out of our regular giving and one to the Diocese of Texas.
We thank God and you for your participation in making this possible. You have made a difference in the life of the church and the community as a whole. With the Quin Loan being taken care of, the leadership would like to ask this of you:
Would you consider continuing (or starting up if you are newer to St. Andrew's and have not pledged to the Capital Budget) your support?
· You can continue/start by making payments marked "Capital." This will be used to retire additional debt or to fund deferred maintenance.
· You can add what you would have been (or will begin) paying to your regular Operating Giving. Operating money keeps us going day-to-day. Capital money takes on long term goals and debt.
Whatever you give will be working both inside and outside the church to fulfill our mission to bring Christ's love to the world.
Your stewardship is important to us as an individual church and also to God and the Christian way of life
With the above thoughts in mind, please prayerfully consider your continued support, either in Capital or Operating donations to the Mission and Ministry of St. Andrew's. Once again, thank you all for what we have accomplished together.
Yours in Christ,
Merv Taylor, Treasurer
