St. Andy's Garage Sale is coming Saturday, September 11th (7am - 2pm).  This is one of our main fundraising activities to help meet the financial needs of our operating budget.  PODS of Houston has generously donated a POD for our use to store items in preparation for the September Garage Sale.  Start purging your stuff and let St. Andrew's turn it into cash for the church!  Tell your family, friends and neighbors we need it, want it and will take it!   A pick up team is available for LARGE items.  Call Christine Lusk with questions 281-485-2525.

Year of Service Update #13
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
July 22, 2010
Dear St. Andrew's Family & Friends,
In honor of our Year of Service, and on a personal note, I leave tomorrow (July 22) on my Pilgrimage to Malawi. I am excited, a little nervous and very stressed because I have packing still to do.
As I plan to visit our Sister Diocese of Southern Malawi, I am excited for the possibilities that lie ahead. My goal is to find a meaningful way in which we can connect the people of St. Andrew's to the people of the Diocese of Southern Malawi.
I don't know much about what I will experience while I am there, but I have an itinerary, a 13 year old guidebook, a list of Chichewa phrases, and a lot of prayers behind me.
If you would like to join me in this experience through the virtual world, I will be writing a blog (as often as possible given I do not know what my internet access will be) you can follow my trip at
http://malawipilgrimage.wordpress.com/.
Hopefully you will all understand that this is a shortened Year of Service newsletter due to time constraints - please look for a catch up newsletter in mid-August to report all the great works you are doing.
Well, I'm off to finish up at work so I can go home and finish packing. Thank you all for your support and prayers.
Debbie Allensworth
Service Opportunity
The following is from an email I received about an Operation Christmas Child volunteer opportunity:
Dear Friend,
It's time to sign up as a volunteer in an Operation Christmas Child Processing Center!
Registration begins at 8:00 a.m. EDT on Monday, August 2-and spaces will fill quickly. If your family, church, or group is excited to participate in this mission opportunity, we encourage you to call us at 1-800-442-9120 to request a reservation.
We are blessed to have many volunteers who want to serve in this ministry, so we appreciate your flexibility in scheduling as we try to accommodate as many as possible. Please have multiple options of dates and times in mind when you call.
This holiday season, we anticipate 65,000 volunteers will be needed to serve in Processing Centers in Atlanta, Georgia; Boone, North Carolina; Charlotte, North Carolina; Denver, Colorado; Honolulu, Hawaii; Minneapolis, Minnesota; and Orange County, California. Volunteers must be at least 13 years of age.
For more information about Samaritan's Purse and Operation Christmas Child, or to order your project materials, please call 1-800-353-5949 or visit www.samaritanspurse.org/occ. Together, we can touch millions of hearts with Christmas joy and the Good News of Jesus Christ!
National Collection Week is November 15-22, 2010
The Church Has Left the Building
St. Andrew's will be literally "leaving the building" on Sunday, September 19th to go out into our community and perform acts of service. Much more information is coming soon but save the date and mark your calendars now so you can join us for this amazing outreach event.
Malawi Blog
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Debbie Allensworth has left on her pilgrimage to Malawi.  She is going there for us, the Diocese of Texas, the Diocese of Southern Malawi and for her own spiritual growth. Please pray for her.

She hopes (depending on the internet capabilities in Malawi) to write a daily blog. If she has to, she will post the blog on her return.

If you would like to join her in this experience through the virtual world, you may follow her trip at
http://malawipilgrimage.wordpress.com/.  If you chose, you may subscribe to the blog as well.

Free Infant Car Seat
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Hi everyone,
We have a Graco Snug Ride infant car seat and two bases to give away.  It has never been in a crash, and does not expire until Dec. 2012.  It is black and a nice smoky purple color (suitable for either a boy or girl).  The plastic parts are silver.
With the exception of some fraying at the top of the seat pad where the pad fits around the shell (which does not interfere with the baby's comfort due to the location), it is in great condition.  (I am pretty sure a new seat pad can be ordered from Graco's website.)  The seat pad is machine washable.  We have all the original parts.
If you are interested or have more questions, please feel free to call me at 713-436-9364.
Thanks,
Shelley Waguespack
Renew your Kroger Card and Support St.Andrew's
Kroger YOU MUST RENEW YOUR CARD NOW OR IT WILL NOT BE VALID.
Support St. Andrew's through your shopping at Kroger.
Click this link.
We earned over $2,500 by linking our Kroger Cards to St. Andrew's. A percentage of each purchase went to fund our ministries. Each year, we must relink our Kroger Card. We will start earning money on July 1st only if we relink our cards.
Print the attached and take it to your Kroger when you shop next and have the cashier link your card with St. Andrew's. The instructions are on the flyer. You only need to link it once and you are done for the year!
Thank you for supporting St. Andrew's in this way.
