| New Journey for Children's Christian Experience
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Parents, grandparents, uncles, aunts, godparents, friends,
You promised a child you would see to it that they grew up knowing Jesus and support them in their Christian Journey.
Here is your chance to get them started in a new way.
This Sunday, we begin a new phase in Children's Ministry. Rock U., our Children's Formation Ministry, will have its first Large Group Event for children through 5th grade and the adults who care about them. We will introduce the theme of the next month to children and adults who will accompany them.
All be here in the Parish Hall at 9:14 am.
Breakfast will be served at 10:00am
See you there!
| Purge your life of some stuff!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ St. Andy's Garage Sale is coming Saturday, September 11th (7am - 2pm). This is one of our main fundraising activities to help meet the financial needs of our operating budget. PODS of Houston has generously donated a POD for our use to store items in preparation for the September Garage Sale. Start purging your stuff and let St. Andrew's turn it into cash for the church! Tell your family, friends and neighbors we need it, want it and will take it! A pick up team is available for LARGE items. Call Christine Lusk with questions 281-485-2525. |
| Malawi
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Dear Friends,
Malawi is called the Warm Heart of Africa. Malawi is also one of the poorest countries in the world.
The Diocese of Southern Malawi is the companion diocese of the Diocese of Texas.
The Rt. Rev. James Tengatenga is the Bishop of Southern Malawi and lived with Jim and Christine Liberatore in Seminary (Jim taught him to drive and they were his "parents" when he got married.)
Bishop James and our Bishop, Andy, have encouraged each church in the Diocese of Texas to have a relationship with Southern Malawi.
In late July, Jim+ has asked Debbie Allensworth to take a pilgrimage to Malawi and work with James and his wife, Josie, to develop ways to connect St. Andrew's and Southern Malawi. She is going with other people from other churches who are also going on a pilgrimage.
A pilgrimage is travel with the focus on understanding and opening up to the Spirit. The vestry and staff of St. Andrew's support her pilgrimage.
As you can imagine, this is a great undertaking. As your Rector, I ask that you pray for Debbie and her pilgrimage and consider supporting her, in any way, financially (mark checks in memo area "Malawi.") She is personally paying for part of the trip and using other money she has earned or is part of her employment package.
Thank you for your support. Ask Debbie about her trip and let her know you are supporting her in this. She will tell us about it on August 22nd in worship so mark your calendar.
Summer Vacation
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Our vacation season starts this week. Hurray!
This summer, keep St. Andrew's with you. Take a vacation from work and school but not from God. Worship here when you are in town. When you are away, bring us back the leaflet and other welcoming stuff form the churches you visit.
Please keep your giving current. Summers are a tough time for a church. Giving often drops off and does not catch up again till September. Our financial commitments to our vendors and payroll do not go down in the summer.
If you have specials needs due to the stresses of travel, summer expectations, and a lot of family "closeness," please call on me or Joe+. I have you and your families in my prayers. I pray you have a safe and very enjoyable summer.

Dear St. Andrew's Family,
I wanted to keep you up-to-date on the schedule for summer Christian education at St. Andrew's. We are very excited about what we have coming up for Rock U (Toddlers & 2's - 5th Grade) for the fall. We have some amazing plans and I think all of our families will really enjoy the new format.
In order to get ready for this kick-off, we will utilize some of the time this summer for planning and some other time for trying out our new format. So, here is the summer schedule for Rock U:

July 4th - No classes - Teacher training for the fall at 9:15 in Room 106
July 11th - Large Group Family Event-Parents & Children meet in Parish Hall at 9:15 - YOU DON'T WANT TO MISS THIS!
July 18, 25, August 1, 8 Small Group classes for children Preschool-5th Grade (Toddlers & 2's will have some fun events in the nursery)
August 15 - Small Group Classes for Preschool - 5th Grade (t's & 2's nursery) Parent's meeting in Parish Hall at 9:15
August 22 - Rally Day
August 29th - Fall Classes begin
The Youth schedule will be slightly different than this one - they have some more events planned throughout the summer. Be on the lookout for information on that soon.

| Renew your Kroger Card and Support St.Andrew's
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ YOU MUST RENEW YOUR CARD NOW OR IT WILL NOT BE VALID.
Support St. Andrew's through your shopping at Kroger. Click this link.
We earned over $2,500 by linking our Kroger Cards to St. Andrew's. A percentage of each purchase went to fund our ministries. Each year, we must relink our Kroger Card. We will start earning money on July 1st only if we relink our cards.
Print the attached and take it to your Kroger when you shop next and have the cashier link your card with St. Andrew's. The instructions are on the flyer. You only need to link it once and you are done for the year!
Thank you for supporting St. Andrew's in this way. |
