CAMPAIGN OF KINDNESS
Partners with Lawhon Elementary to Improve Their Playground

Coming up during Lent, we will be embarking on our annual Campaign of Kindness. This year, we will be adding a Saturday special event and we're making plans now and I need some help from you to help finalize those plans.

When:  Saturday, March 28th at 9 a.m.
Where: Lawhon Elementary Playground (Brookside Village)
What: Creating a box around the swings and filling it with mulch for cushioning
Who: That's what I need to know!!

If you are interested in helping with this project which is so important to so many children, please RSVP now so I can get a count for the workday.

Important Notes: Only those Workcamp age and above (currently in 6th grade) will be allowed on site while we are working. There will be babysitting at St. Andrew's for the youngest kids and others may choose to participate in a simultaneous event at Trinity Oaks Assisted Living Facility (with adequate adult supervision).

Thank you!
EPISCOPAL NIGHT AT THE ASTROS
It's back! Join 3,000 other Episcopalians (and sit with the St. Andrew's folks) when the Astros meet the Cubs on Wednesday, June 9th @ 7:05 pm.

Here are the reduced ticket prices. The Liberatores, Father Joe, and the Allensworths will be getting Field Box seats. How about you?

Field Boxes       $25
Bullpen Boxes   $18
Here is your part. I can tell you how to get tickets on your own or you can go with us as a group.
If you want to go with a group I need the following by April 1st before the large block of seats are gone. If you want to go alone, let me know and I will get you ordering info.

1. Type and number of tickets
2. A check or cash for the full price
3. Give me the payment by April 1st (not to the office or in the offering basket)

Hope to hear from you. -- Jim+
P.S. I have it on good authority that in the unpublished Dead Sea scrolls, Jesus and his cousin John the Baptist played semi-pro ball for the Nazareth Narthex team. Jesus got a lot of great parable material from the game of baseball.

RECYCLING

Cans -
Every time you are ready to throw out that soda or other beverage can, remind yourself that you are throwing away money that could have gone to the Work Campers. Every aluminum can counts. You may drop off your collection in the old kitchen. We are collecting all the way through July. So please recycle the cans!

Ink Cartridges - Reduce pollution, and raise funds. Most of us have inkjet printers at home or work. When you have an empty cartridge next time, do not throw it away-just bring it to St. Andrew's. We have a special recycle box in  the Foyer of the Family Life Center.  St. Andrew's is paid up to $4.00 for each cartridge.

LENTEN SUPPER AND WORSHIP
Lent is the time of the year we devote ourselves
more full to God, especially by taking on extra
time in the bible, in worship and in acts of
kindness. Typically, Episcopalians had weekly
Lenten Suppers.

I am asking us to make room for God our busy
schedule and to take just one Wednesday out
for God and our spiritual life. Join me for a
Lenten Supper and a short Worship time on
Wednesday, 3/18 at 6:00 pm for dinner with
worship to follow. A simple supper and childcare
is provided.

I hope to see you there.

Faith, Hope, and Luck

Our faith in God often hinges on his activity-or
inactivity-in our daily experiences. When our
prayers are answered, our faith soars. When
God is silent, it becomes harder to trust him.
When God shows up in an unmistakable way, our
confidence in him reaches new heights. But
when he doesn't come through, our confidence
often wanes.

But it doesn't have to be that way-it's not
supposed to be that way. Faith, Hope and Luck
is guaranteed to transform your thinking about
FAITH. As you listen or watch, you will discover
the difference between faith and hope. You will
be presented with a definition for FAITH that will
shed new light on both the Old and New
Testaments. We will find what we can expect
of God every time we come to him with a request.
THE PEOPLE'S SERMON QUESTIONS FOR GOD

The sermon on April 19th will be one like you
have not had before. You determine the
content!

I am asking you to send me questions for God.
During the sermon time, I will address as many
as possible. What I would like are real questions
you have about real spiritual and life-application
issues. I will be more likely to address questions
that can be answer in a brief reply as opposed to
weighty issues like abortion, poverty, or capital
punishment, which take considerable time to
develop. I am more interested in what you need
for your life (the person who poses the questions
will not be publicly identified) in the way of
spiritual guidance or questions. I will address as
many as I can. I will say that many "Why does
God...?' questions have no answer. We are in the
faith business and God often does not tell us
"Why?" and, instead, asks us to trust that he is
good and cares.

Send your questions to me at frjimbo@msn.com or
on a note in the offering plate. Please give your
name so I can follow up if I have questions.

As always, I am available to meet with you about
any pressing spiritual issue.

SUMMER CAMP AT CAMP ALLEN

I did 12 years of summer camp at our Episcopal
Camp, Camp Allen, near Navasota in the piney
woods. Camp Allen is a great place. Kids from
going-into-3rd-grade through high school can go.
We have camp applications in the office. Contact
or come by the office. You owe it to your kids
or grand kids to give them a Camp Allen memory.
