RECYCLING

Cans -
Every time you are ready to throw out that soda or
other beverage can, remind yourself that you are throwing
away money that could have gone to the Work Campers.
Every aluminum can counts. You may drop off your
collection in the old kitchen. We are collecting all the way
through July. So please
recycle the cans!

Ink Cartridges - Reduce pollution, and raise funds. Most
of us have inkjet printers at home or work. When you have
an empty cartridge next time, do not throw it away-just
bring it to St. Andrew's. We have a special recycle box in
the Foyer of the Family Life Center.  St. Andrew's is paid
up to $4.00 for each cartridge.

HONORING LONG TIME MEMBERS

Dear Friends

On Sunday, February 8, 2009, on the 37th anniversary of St. Andrew's, we will be acknowledging and honoring members who have 20+ years of service to our church. St. Andrew's would not be where she is today if not for the courage, sweat, and love that they poured into this church over the years.

Please join me at the 8 am and/or the 10:30 am service on that day where we will express our appreciation to these fellow disciples and offer a blessing over. They have been a faithful "cloud of witnesses" and, for that, we are thankful.

LOOSE CHANGE

St. Andrew's workcampers are taking on a challenge this summer. They are going to workcamp twice! They trip to Omaha, Nebraska was planned shortly after they returned from workcamp last August. When the opportunity to do Hurricane Ike relief became available, they were eager to sign up.

You can be part of the workcamp challenge, too.  Help them cover their transportation by bringing your loose change** to St. Andrew's on Sunday. Put it in the workcampers' paint cans or buckets.

Would you rather hear the guys sing, or maybe the girls? Be sure your money goes in the right bucket. The group who raises the most money will thank the congregation by singing "18 Wheels on the Big Rig" for us.

Look under the sofa cushions! Grab that change jar on the dresser! Be part of the life-changing experience for our youth and those they will meet at workcamp.

**Loose bills and checks gratefully accepted also.

LOOSE CHANGE UPDATE
stagecoach
Last week, we left the workcampers in The Woodlands and Friendswood, on
their trips to Omaha and Texas City.

Thanks to generous donations they
moved to Tonkawa, Oklahoma and League City.  They arrived in Tonkawa by
stagecoach.  It is important to note Tonkawa is the Wheatheart of Oklahoma!
league city

Travel to League City was by bicycle.  The campers hope to upgrade to something with an engine for next week!
The girls took a strong lead in their bid to sing "18 wheels on a Big Rig", but there is still time for the guys to stage a comeback.  Remember to bring your loose change, bills and checks to put in the guys can and/or the girls
can.  Stay tuned next Sunday for another exciting installment of "Loose Change Can Change Lives!"

SUMMER CAMP AT CAMP ALLEN

I did 12 years of summer camp at our Episcopal Camp,
Camp Allen, near Navasota in the piney woods. Camp Allen
is a great place. Kids from going-into-3rd-grade through
high school can go. We have camp applications in the
office. Contact Cheryl at Cheryl@standrewspearland.org
or come by the office. You owe it to your kids or grand
kids to give them a Camp Allen memory.

They Like Jesus but Not the Church

Starts 3/1/09

$5 w/o book - $20 w /book
DVD and discussion

Jim Liberatore

An overview of the six most common objections new generations have with church and Christianity along with the biblical answers to these objections and examples of how churches are facing this challenge.

Many people today, especially among younger generations, don't resonate with the church and organized Christianity. Some are leaving the church and others were never part of the church in the first place. Sometimes it's because of misperceptions about the church. Yet often they are still spiritually open and fascinated with Jesus.

The System Belongs to God

DVD and Discussion

Fr. Joe and Bruce Nied

Is the ancient biblical message relevant to our complex, dangerous world today? We deal with various powers (government, corporations and even families) daily. We can't live without them. But something is wrong; people get caught in the system. Noted Bible scholar Walter Wink helps us understand the spiritual forces in these powers and claims them for God.

Session titles are: The Way Things Are; God Won't Give Up; What Jesus Really Said; How to Fight Without Hitting; What if Nations, Companies and Churches Had Angels?; How You See the World; and Praying for the Big Picture.

Parenting Your Teenager equips moms and dads to recognize common patterns, plan effective strategies, and build character. Perfect for small group Bible study or a seminar, this 4 part video set (with six lesson plans) features relationship experts Les and Leslie Parrott. And, in 24 gut-level interviews, parents and teens talk openly about rebellion, conflict, pain, and identity. Plus, there's a candid chat with singer Steven Curtis Chapman about faith and family.
