| HURRICANE NEWS |
| We are now in the 7th week of the 2008 Hurricane Season. If you , a friend , a neighbor or family member need help to evacuate Brazoria County in advance of a storm, you can help yourself and us if you will register with the "211" Registry. By doing this, you can notify Brazoria County Officials so we can make preparation to help you evacuate. To register, simply pick up a phone and dial "211". A person on the phone will ask you a few simple questions such as your address, phone number, how many people in your household and if you have any pets. This information is necessary for officials to help you to evacuate. You will need to bring medications, important papers, cash, food for your pets, and clothes to last for at least 3-5 days. |
| BIBLE |
A little boy opened the big family Bible. He was fascinated as he fingered through the old pages. Suddenly, something fell out of the Bible. He picked up the object and looked at it. What he saw was an old leaf that had been pressed in between the pages. 'Mama, look what I found,' the boy called out. 'What have you got there, dear?' With astonishment in the young boy's voice, he answered, 'I think it's Adam' s underwear!' |

| IT IS "BACK TO SCHOOL" TIME AGAIN.... |
Please help Christian Helping Hands be a success again this year. Each year we have grown in the number of students we have been blessed to help with supplies. This year, we are expecting an even greater number of families in need, due to our current economic crisis. Please help us meet or exceed our goal of helping 1,000 of our area's children succeed in school by sending them back with the supplies they need. With God's help, we can make the school year a great success.
All types of school supplies are needed (crayons, paper, pencils, glue, pens, etc.). A complete list of supplies can be found in Sunday's Leaflet or by contacting the Church office. Supplies are needed by Sunday, August 10th.
Bring your items to Church, thank you!

Workcamp Letters and Workcamp Heroes Return
While a large group of the youth are making their way to Monroe, North Carolina, we ask that the congregation at St. Andrews take a little time between services and after the 10:30 service to make a card for the workcampers which will be shipped out to the group later that week. St. Andy's will provide all the materials and postage for everything we make. Also, on Monday, August 4th, 2008 at 6pm we ask that members of the congregation come celebrate the return of the group as we have a few finger foods and a real "heroes return". Get ready for "On Axis"
Starting on Wednesday, August 13, 2008, Youth of St. Andrews (grades 6-12) are invited to come out to Solomon's Porch Coffeehouse from 6-8pm for a weekly bible study. We'll be diving into pop and modern culture from a biblical standpoint to find out what it means to live and love life in the world around us on the edge of our seats and "On Axis". Bring a a bible and a few bucks for the drink of your choice. For more information on Solomon's Porch Coffeehouse, visit www.solomonsporchcoffeehouse.com. Rally Day Youth Cook-off TeamMake your reservation now to join the St. Andrew's youth as we get together and throw down on Rally Day for a little bit of great tailgate food and lots of fun. Aside from the ideas of earning the trophy, the title stands on the line as we have had an open challenge from the other teams. They seem to talk a lot of smack, but we're out to prove that the proof is in the plate on the table. To get the scoop and sign up, call Ryan Perry at 281-485-3843, ext. 17.

| RECYCLING |
Cans - Every time you are ready to throw out that soda or other beverage can, remind yourself that you are throwing away money that could have gone to the Work Campers. Every aluminum can counts. You may drop off your collection in the old kitchen. We are collecting all the way through July. So please
Ink Cartridges - Reduce pollution, and raise funds. Most of us have inkjet printers at home or work. When you have an empty cartridge next time, do not throw it away-just bring it to St. Andrew's. We have a special recycle box in the Foyer of the Family Life Center. St. Andrew's is paid up to $4.00 for each cartridge. |
