PRAISE AND ACCOLADES

Thanks to Katie Cordes and her crew for a fantastic K-2nd Grade Lock-in.

Thanks to the St. Andrew's Fantasy Football League guys for donating the GIGANTIC bounce house for the kids.

Special thanks to Bendel Rushing and Hita Dickson who really stepped up the past Meals on Wheels week to help out when we were down drivers.

Congratulations to Jacob Barger for being the only individual from Dawson High School to place in the 4A Regionals on Feb. 9th.  Jacob placed 3rd in the 100yd. butterfly with a time of 1:01:57.  Way to go Jacob!

KIDS' WORSHIP

God Rocks! is age appropriate worship for kids ages 3 years old to 2nd grade. Please have older kids remain in church rather than going to God Rocks! The narrower age spread makes the ministry work better for our kids. Kids 3rd grade and up may apply to Alicia Cox at aliciamcox@sbcglobal.net to be helpers. However, the teams currently are full. There is a waiting list.

We do need adult team members as all teams are not at their full capacity. Contact Alicia to help. We ask all parents who use God Rocks! to consider helping once a month. Training is supplied and a background check is required. Is God calling you to help?

Parents who wish to help start worship for kids older than 2nd grade should contact Fr. Jim+ at frjimbo@msn.com. We want a group like this for our kids. Once we have the people to do it, we will.

DEBBIE ALLENSWORTH SCHOLARSHIP

Thank you all who came and honored Debbie on the occasion of her 10th anniversary on program staff of St. Andrew's. We had a great time. One of the things done that day was to establish the Debbie Allensworth Scholarship Fund for Children and Youth. I planted a seed with $1,000. One parish family immediately contributed $200 to the Fund. If you would like to contribute, make checks payable to St. Andrew's with Debbie's Scholarship in the "memo" section. The donation is tax deductible. Applications for the scholarship will be out in late April after a Review Board is appointed and guidelines are set.

See you Sunday.

TAKING CARE OF BUSINESS

6 Weeks beginning February 24th

Work. For most people, it's a necessity. For some, it's a passion. And for others, it's a four-letter word to be avoided as much as possible. In this DVD and accompanying study guide from North Point Resources, readers will come to grasp the one perspective on work that really matters: God's. He ordained it and He laid out specific guidelines enabling workers to achieve maximum success and fulfillment. In each session, Andy Stanley offers insights on common, specific problem areas people have, from dealing with coworkers and superiors, to boldly living the Christian faith, to balancing work and family.

THE POWER OF FORGIVENESS

4 Weeks beginning March 3rd

Every Human being gets hurt in ways both big and small, and in turn, we sometimes inflict hurt on others. There comes a time when we face the difficult choice to forgive others and to forgive ourselves. But forgiveness can seem impossible, even undesirable.  This study open our minds and our hearts to a new understanding of forgiveness so we can embrace forgiveness as a key to a wholesome and free life.

Leader: Rob Rumph                                     Cost: $6

PUT YOUR GIFTS INTO ACTION

The Next 301 Class (Your SHAPE for Ministry) will be offered by Christine Liberatore starting 2/24 @ 9:15 am. This class is centered on discovering each person's own personal S.H.A.P.E. for ministry (Spiritual Gifts, Heart, Abilities, Personality, & Experiences). This class is an excellent opportunity to learn more about yourself and to find affirmation that you do have a place in the ministry of the church. ChristineLiberatore@msn.com

HANDY PERSON NEEDED

We need someone to place a TV up on a wall mount in one of our classrooms in the Family Life Center. The bracket is already in place and the TV is here and just waiting for some loving person or persons (2 people could probably do this easier than one) to come and secure it to the bracket.

If you think this might be you, please contact Debbie Allensworth at debbie@standrewspearland.org or 281-485-3843. Thank you!

MINISTRY OPPORTUNITIES

Help Your Fellow Brazoria County Citizens - In case of a public health emergency the County Health Dept. may need to distribute preventive medications to all the residents of Brazoria County within a 48 hour period. At this time the population of our county is almost 300,000 people and growing. The Brazoria County Health Dept., with its staff of 12 employees, cannot accomplish this enormous task by itself. The county has a plan to accomplish this important mission, but it will require 2500 volunteers. At this time we have almost 1000 volunteers identified and almost 800 of these have been trained, but we still need more. The volunteer orientation is only 3 hours, and no medical training is required. There is no cost to the volunteer to participate.

Help Local Youth and Adults - They need Community Service hours. We get free campus care assistance from those who need to do Community service for Honor society or minor infractions. Help someone who may be in the same place as a family member one day. Help St. Andrew's as well.

Musical Offering - Play an instrument? Sing? We would love to have you perform something during worship as a special offering.

Office Help - Can you give even an hour a week to help out in the office? We'd love to have you here.

Substitute - Our church has great Sunday School Teachers. We want them to have time off once in a while. You can help. Will you be available once in a while to sub? Curriculum and support teachers provided.

Kid's Worship - We have openings for adults who care about the worship lives of our kids. Once a month.

Usher - Would you like to help those who attend worship? Service once a month.

Audiovisual - God is calling one person to coordinate a team of audiovisual people for 10:30 am worship. Most of the team is already in place.

OUR MISSION

This past Sunday was a great day in the life of St.
Andrew's. We added 34 people to our number through
confirmation. Every one of these people needed God
and St. Andrew's and we need their life and gifts as
well.

While numbers are good, we often miss the true
importance of them. Each number is a person. A person
for whom Christ died and for whom Christ yearns to
give all life has to offer. Sometimes, in the midst of our
busyness, we forget that our church esixts as a
community here to serve Christ in renewing people.

Our absolute dedication is to the Great Commandment

and Great Commission of Jesus. The Commandment,
"love God with all you have and love your neighbor as
you would yourself," bids us to worship God, which is
our weekly practice, and to serve in the church in a
capacity that brings out the best in us. All worship.
All serve. No exceptions.

The Great Commission, "seek out people rather than
wait for them, build them up into followers of Christ,
and incorporate them in a loving and healing church,"
encourages us to develop a discipline and strategy to
grow ourselves and others in the context of a
community (the church) who values and remembers
everyone.

Are you adding to the life of the world by being an
agent of Jesus? Are you impacting the people around
you in a life-giving way? You are if you build your life
around worship, prayer, study of scripture, serving in
church, being accountable to other church members in
growing relationships, and seeking out those who do
not know Christ or who need him.

We exist to assist Jesus in healing the world, starting

right here: you and me. St. Andrew's is God's favorite
place of operation for a mjor part of this work. If we
do not do this, someone will miss out on life. Our
mission is too important not to do.

THE ESSENTIAL JESUS

Join us on wednesdays beginning March 5th at 6:30

pm. Dinner and childcare available upon request.

Done by 8 pm.  If you wish to purchase the book, let
me know, it is $15.

"Jesus never became a political, military or
government leader; her never wanted to.  He never
owned a multinational corporation or acquired any
wealth to speak of; he didn't need it.  He never
wrote a book never staged a concert tour, never
appeared on television and never had a radio talk
show---or even his own blog...What's so special
about Jesus?"

Most of us know something about Jesus and are
intrigued by him.  Perhaps as a childe we attended
Sunday school, or when flipping channels we've
heard TV preachers talk about Jesus.  We may have
even thought, "I'd like to find out for myself what
Jesus said and did so I can come to my own
conclusions about him."  But we haven't had
the opportunity to take a closer look.

The Essential Jesus will help you discover who Jesus
is and why he is so significant---even
life-transforming. Through bot Old and New
Testament readings you will discover why God sent
Jesus, what Jesus taught, how he treated people,
why he did miracles, the meaning of his death, the
significance of his resurrection, what the Bible says
about his second coming and much more.

THOUGHT

"If you insist uopn gambling, and try to cheat in
doing so, it is likely you will get shot. If you drink
whisky with the drunken and become quarrelsome
in your cups, it is possible you will get shot.
Hence it is well for men to remember that Texas
is not a place where you can act as you will- cheat,
steal, lie, or commit adultery, and then be held
quite harmless. No indeed. They may not wait for
the law to catch and punish in such cases; but
probably shoot you in advance and investigate
afterwards."

RECYCLING

Cans - Every time you are ready to throw out
that soda or other beverage can, remind
yourself that you are throwing away money
that could have gone to the Work Campers.
Every aluminum can counts. You may drop off
your collection in the old kitchen. We are
collecting all the way through July. So please
recycle the cans!

Kids Stuff - Cleaning out your children's toy

box and play area in order for the new stuff
from Christmas to fit in? How about donating
the stuff to Shriners Hospital. They take
stuffed animals, toys, working electronics,
videos, books and cds.  You may drop off
the donations at the church. Just place the
stuff behind the desk in the church office.
This would be greatly appreciated.

Ink Cartridges - Reduce pollution, and raise
funds. Most of us have inkjet printers at home
or work. When you have an empty cartridge
next time, do not throw it away-just bring it
to St. Andrew's. We have a special recycle
box in the Foyer of the Family Life Center.
St. Andrew's is paid up to $4.00 for each
cartridge.

Cell Phones for Soldiers - The cell phones

are recycled for cash and the proceeds
are used to buy prepaid calling cards for
our soldiers serving in the Middle East.
Bring your cell phone and battery along
with anything else that goes with them
to the drop-off boxes at church.  One is
in the Foyer of the Family Life Center and
one is in the hallway of the Worship
Building by the Coke machine.  For more
information, please visit their website @ www.cellphonesforsoldiers.com
