DEC 30TH NO CLASSES

GOT TALENT?
Of even a hobby? Well, we need your passion for June. In June, we will conduct 6 weeks of JOY University. JOY means "Jesus, Others and You."

SO... if you juggle, knit, cook, throw a fastball (or spiral,) explored Alaska (or anyplace of interest,) do photography, paint, build furniture, train/groom horses, do calligraphy, bake, can help people sell on EBay, an opera buff, know nutrition or health tips...are you getting the picture?

Here's what you will do. For two weeks in a row, you will offer your gift or talent for others of all ages in the church. While you are doing this, others will be offering their talent. After two weeks, you are done.

You will do all this from 9:15-10:15 am on Sunday morning - your regular time to be here. We need 10 or more people to do this. Email me if you might be interested

NEW ADULT CLASS SERIES
5-5-5 - Exploring the Bible - Even you can do this!

Join me January 1st and stop putting off reading the Bible -- I'll make it easy.

Read one chapter of one book of the New Testament a day, taking weekends off, through 2008. It's called 5-5-5; five minutes a day, five days a week, five ways (if you want) to go deeper.  I would like you to join me.

While there are no quizzes and no meetings, there is a commitment. Do you have 5 minutes a day to give to God 5 days a week?  Of course, you do.  This is a powerful but manageable commitment.  You can do it; nothing in life worth anything comes without a commitment.  To put it another way, things involving no commitment are worth little.

As Ron Popeil, the TV inventor and pitchman says, "But wait, there's more!"  I can't throw in an extra set of steak knives but I will entertain questions each day from you to help you understand God's Word more. You don't have to send them in, but you can.

Are you up for the adventure?  I will tell you more in December.

WHERE'S JOE?
Come January, you might wonder where Joe is. He often takes vacation in January, but starting this year he will be taking many of the 10:30 services off. We are blessed to have Joe in retirement but the wear and tear of every Sunday can be a bit much. So, Jim offered Joe to get off early on some Sundays after he teaches his 9:15 am class. The 10:30 crowd will still see him, just not quite as often.
MINISTRY OPPORTUNITIES
Sign - Hey, you too can light up those letters! On our church marquee. We need someone who can change the sign on Monday/Tuesday. You can do it any time of the day or night. Sign sayings given in advance. Contact Jim+

Musical Offering - Play an instrument? Sing? We would love to have you perform something during worship as a special offering.

Usher- Would you like to help those who attend worship? Service once a month.

Audiovisual - God is calling one person to coordinate a team of audiovisual people for 10:30 am worship. Most of the team is already in place.

THANKS
Mark Neitzey for another great Financial Peace class (biggest yet!).

Bob Hoefler for his great Santa at the Kid's Christmas Event.

Gaby Forrest for leading our kids in the pageant.

WOMEN OF FAITH

During the last WOMEN OF FAITH conference here in Houston, we laughed hysterically, we cried, we worshipped, reflected, ate, and most importantly, we strengthened our relationship with God.

If you are interested in getting a group together to attend next year, email me and we'll start coordinating the group rates. Enjoy! The dates for next year are October 24-25 at the Toyota Center.

FLOWERS
Would you like to honor, thank or remember someone
or something with altar flowers?  It's easy. When we
have altar flowers on Sunday, it's because someone
did just that - honored, thanked or remembered.

Here's what you do. There is a Flower Chart in the

entryway. Take an envelope, fill it out and enclose a
check and drop the envelope in the offering. Also,
mark you name on the Flower Chart.

You honor (usually an event like a birthday, wedding,

employment, or anniversary) and thank a living person
and you remember those who have died.  Do this at
least 2 weeks before the date you wish the flowers.
Flowers are $40.

And you get  a second use from your gift of flowers!

Not only do they beautify worship, they also will go
to someone after the service is over. We give the
flowers to those we wish to thank, those who have
recently visited us, and those who are going through
some tough times.

Your gift of flowers is an important ministry.

BEAUTIFY ST. ANDREW'S

Stewardship involves genuinely caring for and

generously using the gifts we have from God. Our
campus is one of those gifts.

I want us to embark on a renewal of our campus in

2008. Cleaning, painting, weeding, trimming, repairing
and dealing with the clutter are needed in our
stewardship of the St. Andrew's physical plant. Our
accumulating clutter is especially a problem. It is
easier to take out stuff than to put it away or throw
it out.

We have enlisted scouts and office help to begin this

effort but we could use your special brand of love to
finish our beautification. Tell me what type of work
you would like to do and we will get you started. Or
just clean up the area in which you do your ministry.
An hour here and there can help. Make it in an area
that feed your soul as well.

Contact me at frjimbo@msn.com or 281.485.3843 and

I will direct you on how and where to get started. Let's
have our campus beautiful for Easter 2008. Thank you.

STEWARDSHIP CAMPAIGN

I could have never of Imagined the generosity that

has flowed from the St. Andrew's families during this
year's Stewardship Campaign.  This year, we not only
met our stewardship goal, but we surpassed it.  We
are now starting to Imagine the additional things that
we can do for our church and its members with your
generous gifts.  Thank you all for loving St. Andrew's.

Here's to a wonderful 2008 fueled by what you Imagined.

The Lord's Prayer

The Lord's Prayer may be the most well-known and

well-loved prayer in history. And yet this prayer
that Jesus himself gave us is almost mysterious in
its simplicity. This study explores the petitions and
the structure of the Lord's Prayer and sheds light
on what the Lord's Prayer reveals about God's
nature, our own nature, and how we should live in
relationship with God and one another.

This thought-provoking, yet light-hearted, study

helps women discover practical, biblical help to
confront issues that otherwise leave them
discouraged. It helps participants develop biblical
skills to handle stressful situations; grow in their
relationship with Jesus; and ultimately experience
peace, joy, and a saner lifestyle. Brief daily lessons
for each week, Scripture memory verses,
"Defrazzler" activties and Material to study over
each weekend.

Quiet Strength

Answer six tough questions men ask. Or, more

accurately, don't ask-though men crave the
answers. This study is based on insights from the
life of Tony Dungy, Head Coach of the Indianapolis
Colts.

What's my game plan?

What's my strength?

What's success?

Where's my security?

What is my significance?

What's my legacy?

RECYCLING
Cans - Every time you are ready to throw out that
soda or other beverage can, remind yourself that
you are throwing away money that could have gone
to the Work Campers. Every aluminum can counts. You
may drop off your collection in the old kitchen. We
are collecting all the way through July. So please
recycle the cans!

Kids Stuff - Cleaning out your children's' toy box

and play area in order for the new stuff from Christmas
to fit in? How about donating the stuff to Shriners
Hospital.
They take stuffed animals, toys, working
electronics, videos, books and cd's.
You may drop off
the donations at the church. Just place the stuff
behind the desk in the church office. This would
be greatly appreciated.

Ink Cartridges - Reduce pollution, and raise funds.
Most of us have inkjet printers at home or work.
When you have an empty cartridge next time, do
not throw it away-just bring it to St. Andrew's.
We have a special recycle box in the Foyer of the
Family Life Center.  St. Andrew's is paid up to $4.00
for each cartridge.
THOUGHT
"I wanted you to see what real courage is, instead of
getting the idea that courage is a man with a gun in
his hand. It's when you know you're licked before
you begin, but you begin anyway and see it through
no matter what."
