|
|
Give Thanks
If we do not give thanks daily for the Christian fellowship in which we have been placed, no discoverable riches but much weakness, small faith and difficulty,...then we hinder god from letting our fellowship grow according to the measure and riches which are there for us all in Jesus Christ.

| WHAT IS STEWARDSHIP? |
|
|
It is a lifestyle of generosity built on the sacrificial giving of yourself through sharing, taking time for others, loving, being responsible,
taking care of God's creation, and the financial support of St. Andrew's.

| MINISTRY OPPORTUNITIES |
|
|
1. Kid's Lock-In - The kids love the 3rd-7th grade Lock-In. But we cannot do it without adults. Will you help? October 27th. With adults, we will do it again this year.
2. Do you know how to say "Hello?" - Care about our church? People make their decisions about a church based on the first 5 minutes on campus. Are you a person who would make a great impression with a smile and a "Good Morning." Let us know. Once a month for 20 minutes.
3. Musical Offering - Play and instrument? Sing? We would love to have you perform something during worship as a special offering.
4. Altar Help - Do you care about our worship? Want to know more about Episcopal worship? Do you want to help make it happen? Once a month ministries are open in worship set up. We will train and love you. Once a month for a few hours.
5. Yuck! - Have you seen the carpet outside room 102? It has never been shampooed. Never! And, it looks it. Would you be willing to shampoo the carpet in the 102 area? It is the equivalent of a few rooms in your house. Help make a great impression. Respond to Fr Jim+ frjimbo@msn.com or 281.485.3843.
6. Like to work with wood? - I need 25 cubes of any kind of wood about 2" square. With the corners slightly rounded. Like giant dice. Need it for November 10th. Can you help? It's for the kids. Thank.
7. We have a small delivery to make to Shriner's Hospital. Anyone willing to deliver them would be greatly appreciated. Please contact Holly at 281-485-3843 or holly.warnowicz@gmail.com.
8. Cans - The Jr. and Sr. Sunday School group is recycling soda cans. Help them out by bringing in your soda (empty) cans. They can be dumped
into the recycling barrel by room 114 in the Worship Building.

| Pumpkin Storytellers |
|
Imagine sitting in the pumpkin patch on a bright sunny day (cooler than today, of course) and reading a story to a group of bright, cheery children who are thrilled to be out of school for an hour and enjoying St. Andrew's Pumpkin Patch.
If this sounds like fun to you, we're looking for a few storytellers to volunteer for a couple of shifts during the month of October. No special skills required other than willingness to talk to children, tell them a little bit about our pumpkin patch and read them a couple of stories.
We need people who would be available at least one hour one weekday next month to join our storytelling team. We provide the stories, coloring sheets and stickers for the kids, you provide the love.
If you are interested, please contact Debbie Allensworth at debbie@standrewspearland.org or 281-485-3843. Thank you!

| EXTREME NEED |
|
Altar Guild
Sorry to take the "panic" route but we are down to just a few people who are serving on the Altar Guild. The Altar Guild works about once every three weeks (if the people are on the team...now, it is almost once a week) and does the set up and clean up of the worship space.
We must have this ministry or we will need to forfeit communion for a while. I don't believe God is planning on that, so I believe there are 4-5 people who are called to this ministry or one person with a great idea that requires no Altar Guild (hey, God can do anything.)
If you care about worship, like things to go well and look good, and are a behind-the scenes" person, please contact me at frjimbo@msn.com. Search your heart if this is right for you to try out and see if it works.
Thank you.

7:00pm-9:30pm
The Amazing Faiths Project invites you to participant in the Houston Dinner Dialogues on Thursday, November 15, from 7:00 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. Around the table, over a simple dinner, people of diverse backgrounds will break bread together and share their personal thoughts about life, faith, spirituality, and living and working together on this earth. Join us as we build a movement that brings people of diverse faith traditions, and cultural backgrounds together to learn about one another through dialogue, conversation, and fellowship; to create an atmosphere of understanding, respect, and reconciliation; and to stand as witnesses against the climate of intolerance, religious bigotry, and hatred that abounds in the world today. HAVE DINNER, CHANGE YOUR LIFE, TRANSFORM THE WORLD. PLEASE JOIN US FOR DINNER! To register, please visit www.amazingfaithsproject.org, or contact Lauren Foe at (713) 533-4904. | CHURCH GETAWAY |
|
Once a year, much of St. Andrew's takes off to
the piney woods near Navasota for a weekend
away. We go to the Episcopal Camp, Camp Allen.
We stay in nice cabins (you can stay in a motel
as well) and have a weekend of fun and
fellowship. This years retreat is from 11/29-12/2.
We need 8 people to help plan our retreat. We
will have three meetings. Each planner will be
assigned an area to coordinate. Once we have
people, we can have a reatreat.

| MEALS ON WHEELS |
|
Drivers Needed
Can you spare 3 hours between 9am - 12pm
every 8 weeks to deliver hot meals to elderly,
housebound Pearland seniors? Then you might
be interested in becoming a St. Andrew's "Meals
on Wheels" volunteer.
There are two routes to
drive each day of the week with 10-12 houses
per route. Since each driver only takes one route,
we need 2 drivers per day. We still need 5 regular
drivers,as well as, regular substitutes, to fill up our
weekly delivery schedule for this very important
ministry.
Our next two scheduled weeks for meal deliveries
are: Oct. 22-26 and Dec.17-21. If you are
interested in becoming a driver or being on the
substitute list, please contact Judy Bettencourt
at 713-500-9754 during the day or 713-436-2436
in the evening.
You can also send an email to judith.l.bettencourt@uth.tmc.edu
Special note to PAST Meals on Wheels drivers:
If you have been involved with Meals on Wheels
in the past and are still interested in volunteering,
please contact Judy since we don't have any
documentation on who used to deliver meals. All
you need to get involved are a few hours, a car
and a big heart!
