Here are a few reminders to help with a smooth transition back to school.
The front doors open promptly at 8:30 am. Unless parents and/or students have a prearranged teacher meeting, no one is admitted through these doors prior to 8:30 am.
There is an Early Bird program available should any parent need to drop off their students prior to 8:30 am. Applications are available online or in the school office.
Students being dropped off for Early Bird Club, scheduled band, chorus or orchestra lessons may enter through the gym doors prior to 8:30 am, and proceed directly to the Media Center or the music room.
Please provide a written note to your child's teacher at the start of the day for any dismissal changes. Phone messages to the school office are not permitted except in true emergency situations. |

Summer Reading
Forms Due Monday, September 10
Please have your children return the reading forms to his/her classroom teacher by Monday, September 10. We will celebrate summer reading on September 21 with a special assembly and recognition.
Summer Exercise
Did your child exercise this summer? Have your child give Mr. Mac or Mr. Mickel a picture that shows him/her engaged in any type of physical activity or exercise. Photos will be displayed on the Summer Exercise bulletin board near the gym. If you would like the photo returned, please put your child's name and classroom teacher on the back of the photo. |

Join the PTA
Please join the PTA and contribute to the Membership Drive. Membership dollars make curriculum enrichment activities such as field trips and school assemblies possible. Membership Forms are on the website. As always, we are striving for 100% membership participation. Please contact Lorraine Sweillam for volunteer opportunities.
Dolphin Depot

Dolphin Depot will be selling school spirit wear including T-Shirts, hoodies and car magnets. Contact Casey Fulton if you have any questions.
PTA Directory Forms
Due Friday, September 7
PTA Directory forms must be submitted if you are new to OGS, if you were not listed in the 2011 - 2012 directory, or if you have changes to the contact information that was listed last year. If you submitted a form in June, you do not need to resubmit another form. Please submit completed forms to the blue bin in the front hall. Contact Lisa Davidson with any questions.
OGS Parent Social
Thursday, September 13, 7:30 - 10:30 pm, Beach House Cafe
Join us after the OGS Open House for drinks and hors devours at Beach House Cafe, 220 Sound Beach Avenue. Please complete the PTA Parent Social Flyer and return it to the blue bin with a check by Thursday, September 6.
Afters
The PTA's Afters program provides after school enrichment opportunities for the OGS student body in the form of hour-long, on-site classes in arts, sports and more. Fall Afters class choices will be posted on the OGS website by the end of next week. The Fall Afters program runs from early October through mid-December. Online registration will take place in mid-September. Fall Afters classes are open to children in Grades 1 through 5. Scholarships are available for qualifying families. Please e-mail the Afters Committee with any questions.
Early Bird Club
The OG PTA offers a before school drop-off program open to all OGS students. The program runs daily from 7:30 - 8:30 am in the Media Center and is staffed by OGS teachers. Please visit the OGS website for information and the registration form. Contact the Early Bird Club with any specific questions.
Healthy Snacks, Healthy Kids
Need some fresh ideas for packing your child's daily snack and preparing for their after school munchies? The Wellness Committee lends a hand with tips and suggestions for healthy snacks at school and home. Please visit the Healthy Snacks, Healthy Kids tab on the OGS website. |

Pumpkin Patch - October 13
Pumpkin Patch is OGS' annual Fall celebration and our school's biggest fundraiser. There will be games for all ages, bounce houses, a spook-tacular haunted house, a hay-bale maze, and of course, loads of pumpkins. Funds raised will supplement our childrens' education with curriculum enrichment programs. For more details see the information sheet on the website.
How Can You Get Involved?
Right now we are accepting in-kind and cash donations from the parent community. Please read the Parent Donation Letter for details. Past donations include rounds of golf, tickets to a game or concert, manicures/pedicures or any other gift certificates.
T-Shirt Design
Due September 11
Start working on your one-of-a-kind T-Shirt design for the annual Pumpkin Patch T-Shirt Contest. The T-Shirt template and instructions are available on the OGS website. Winners will be announced at the Pumpkin Lady Unveiling on October 2. |

PTA Thank You
School Supplies
Thank you to all who helped support the 2012 - 2013 School Supply Program including Stephanie Norton, Rachel Mooney, Kim Athan, Dru Gearhart and Sally Schedler. This is a valuable service for parents and a nice fundraiser for the PTA.
Opening Day Ceremony
Thank you to Shelly Cryer for assisting with the opening day ceremony; to the dads who stayed afterwards to clean-up, and to Daphne Lamsvelt-Pol for organizing refreshments at the Welcome Back Coffee. |

Between the Waves (BTW) is published by Old Greenwich School and the OG PTA. The BTW is sent out on a weekly basis every Friday, to all OGS families via email. Please e-mail submissions to OGSBTW@gmail.com. Submissions should be in the text of the e-mail and not in an attachment. The deadline for submissions is Wednesday at 3 pm.
