Alternate Row Shading

Remember that old green bar paper? Ever had a spreadsheet that had so many rows, that even with borders you had a hard time following it?

Here is a solution to make those big spreadsheets easier to follow.

  • Highlight the range of cells, rows or columns that you want to format.

  • Choose Conditional Formatting, then select New Rule.

  • Choose Use a formula to determine which cells to format.
  •  Under the Edit the Rule Description, enter =MOD(ROW(),2)=0 in the box Format values where the formula is true

  • Select the Format button in the preview section of the window to bring up the Format Cells box.

  • Choose the Fill tab and specify a color for the shaded rows. (It is best to choose a light color in order to still read the text.)

  • Click OK twice to return to your spreadsheet.

Going The Extra Mile

Providing good customer service keeps your clients coming back. It creates goodwill that keeps people coming back.
Take the initiative. Make a few extra phone calls or do additional research to get exactly what your customer or boss needs. Exceed their expectations.
One of my long time customers tells me what a great job we do at going that extra mile.
Apologize. This is easy to overlook and sometimes hard to do. Even if you are not the person responsible. I will cover this topic more in another issue.
