NADI's Shoptalk is back for its fifth year in 2008, with more educational and networking opportunities for visual merchandising and store planning professionals.

Over $10,000 Raised for Students
 PAVE and GlobalShop Partnership Takes Off!PAVE Logo

As part of a five-year partnership between PAVE and GlobalShop, GlobalShop has donated $10,917, one dollar from each  paid registration from GlobalShop 2008.

PAVE is steadily increasing the dollars contributed to design students and design programs. "Dollars invested in today's design students will keep tomorrow's retail industry vibrant. We applaud GlobalShop's commitment to our industry's future," said Klein Merriman, executive director, PAVE.

Hot Markets: Lingerie & Sporting Goods

LINGERIE SHOWS ITS STRENGTH - aerie, American Eagle Outfitter's fledgling concept, will add 80 stores this year, ten more than initially planned. Abercrombie & Fitch's Gilly Hicks will open 14 stores by the end of its fiscal year next January, bringing it to 17 total. GapBody and Frederick's of Hollywood continue to grow while category leader, Victoria's Secret, scales back its ambitious expansion plans to 43 stores and 66 remodels. The competition is flexing its muscles.

SPORTING GOODS CHAINS STAY ACTIVE - The big two, Sports Authority and Dick's Sporting Goods, continue to add new locations, with the latter opening 44 namesake and 10 Golf Galaxy stores this year. Regionally, Olympia Sports, Modell's, and City Sports battle it out on the East Coast and Academy Sports & Outdoors and Hibbett Sports duke it out in the Southeast and Texas. MC Sports remains the largest regional player in the Midwest, while out West, Big 5 Sporting Goods, Sports Chalet and Joe's Sports & Outdoor continue to excel.
