Now that the November election is in the books, it is important to say thank you to the members for the overwhelming support. The baking industry stepped up its participation in the policy and political process to a whole new level. This allowed ABA to significantly ramp up its activities and visibility.
ABA conducted more meet and greet events, plant visits and PAC events in its history. ABA-PAC early on identified five key Senate races on which to focus, and I am pleased to say all five candidates - all but one a challenger or open seat race - won their elections. ABA has a number of "go to" Senators with which to work in the new Congress. These new Senators understand the business environment of bakers. Similarly, ABA-PAC supported many of the new members of a record breaking freshman class in the House of Representatives. We are diligently working to educate these members.

Effective January 2011, Miles Dennis, Flowers Foods, and Tim Marron, BCW Food Products, will serve as ELDC-Co Chairs. The ELDC Public Policy Forum Program Co-Chairs for 2011 will be Connie Vaughan, McKee Foods, and Pete Frederick, Milner Milling Co.
"With such an outstanding leadership team in place, I am confident that ELDC will continue to achieve its valuable mission to partner executive management development with promoting ABA's aggressive policy agenda on Capitol Hill," said ABA Chairman Allen Shiver, Flowers Foods.

What's D.C.'s Agenda for Your Business?
The ABA Human Resources Committee, Safety Committee, Legal Committee, and Distribution Task Force will hold joint meetings Jan. 24-25, 2011, to hear from key legislative and regulatory speakers, including Senator Richard Burr (R-NC) and Dr. David Michaels, MPH, Asst. Secretary, OSHA.
This joint meeting also includes:
