ABA Members, Staff Give to "Washington Redskins Harvest Feast"
Happy Thanksgiving
The ABA staff served for the second year in a row as volunteers in Operation Blessing International's "Washington Redskins Harvest Feast" on Tuesday, Nov. 23 at FedEx Field. The staff, working side-by-side with members of the Redskins football team and approximately 400 other corporate volunteers, helped stuff and distribute approximately 3,500 Thanksgiving meals that will feed nearly 21,000 residents in the local community this holiday season. A total of 140,500 lbs. of food was distributed at FedEx Field and local food banks as a result of this annual charity event.

ABA member Bimbo Bakeries USA donated four pallets of Arnold's stuffing and Campbell Soup Company provided canned soup for the food baskets.

OSHA Grants Additional Time on Noise Reduction Comments
OSHAOHSA has announced in the Federal Register its intent to change its official interpretation of workplace noise exposure standards and enforcement. Currently, OSHA regulates acceptable workplace noise levels in a common-sense manner, allowing employees to protect workers through "personal protective equipment" (ear plugs and ear muffs, engineering controls like noise-dampening equipment and muffling systems). However OSHA is asking for comments on its announcement requiring employers to implement all "feasible" controls - with "feasible" meaning "capable of being done"- regardless of the costs or effectiveness of currently-used personal protective equipment. While the OSHA notice is not a proposal, it is a change to a long-held OSHA policy. The agency has granted an extension of 90 days for public input. ABA will submit comments through a broader industry coalition.
Please contact ABA Policy Director Rasma Zvaners at rzvaners@americanbakers.org for additional information.
