ABA, along with other food and agriculture partners, sent a letter to House Ed and Labor Chair George Miller (D-CA, 7) and ranking member Rep. John Kline (R, MN-2) this week supporting House passage of S. 3307, the Senate-passed, "Healthy, Hunger-Free Kids Act of 2010," in preparation for next week's post election congressional session.

Before the elections, a temporary extension of the child nutrition reauthorization was included as part of the continuing budget resolution that will expire December 3. ABA will keep the membership updated on the progress of this bill or a possible additional extension of the current legislation.

ABA Concerned About OSHA's Proposed Changes to On-Site Consultation Program Regulations OSHA
ABA, as part of the Coalition for Workplace Safety, expressed concerns over OSHA's proposed changes to its On-Site Consultation Program regulations.  OSHA's On-Site Consultation Program and Safety and Health Achievement and Recognition Program (SHARP) exemplifies that improvements to workplace safety can be achieved be providing assistance to employers to help them understand and comply with OSHA standards.  The proposal appears to change the agency's current approach by intending to use the consultation process to identify potential opportunities for enforcement.
