ABA FTRAC Meeting Covers Key Nutrition and Food Safety Issues Impacting Bakers
ABA's Food Technical Regulatory Affairs Committee (FTRAC) discussed key nutrition and food safety issues when it met in Savannah on Oct. 22. As part of the meeting, the committee participated in roundtable dialogue on a variety of issues including sodium reduction efforts; the evolving technology of dietary fiber analysis; ABA's efforts on the 2010 Dietary Guidelines and child nutrition reauthorization; and issues surrounding food safety. "The outcome of the pending food safety legislation and trends on the reportable food registry are of great interest to the committee, said ABA Senior Vice President, Government Relations and Public Affairs Lee Sanders. "Food safety activities, including a heightened number of inspections with strong enforcement activities will continue to move forward even if the pending legislation is not passed in the 111th Congress."
