For the first time ever, the Baking Expo also offered participants a robust educational program including 52 sessions in baking technology, food safety and security, business management and marketing, cake and cooking decorating, artisan bread making, healthy baking and more. The sessions were so popular that many sold out. "The education sessions were a huge value-add to IBIE," said Lynn Shurman of the Retail Bakers of America.   

World Class Competitions
Another first, IBIE played host to three of the most prestigious competitions in the industry-the Louis Lesaffre Cup, the World Chocolate Masters and the Pillsbury Baker's Plus Creative Decorating Competition. Bakers, pastry chefs and chocolatiers from across the country and around the world demonstrated their skills and created exquisite masterpieces out of bread, cake and chocolate right on the show floor.

"With so many industry groups converging into one place, IBIE has proven that it is truly 'where the industry unites,'" said IBIE Chairman Rich Hoskins, Colborne / Foodbotics.
