ABA Supports Cal/OSHA's One Percent Trigger for Diacetyl Proposal
ABA submitted a short letter responding to Cal/OSHA's modified diacetyl proposed rule. ABA supports the 1 percent applicability threshold and also endorses the comment letter submitted by the Grocery Manufacturers Association. ABA also reiterated that there has not been a formal data collection effort to accurately determine and review the use of diacetyl in the baking industry. Further, while there is an increased awareness of diacetyl usage in food flavorings, there is still no evidence of incidence or pattern of diacetyl-associated illness in general food manufacturing.
