Three New Members Join ABA Board of Directors  The American Bakers Association is proud to announce the appointment of three new members to its 2010-2012 Board of Directors.
Chris Finck, senior vice president at Sara Lee Fresh Bakery, and Larry Marcucci, president of Alpha Baking Company, have joined the board as of May 2010. Both bring to the table extensive experience in baking and the larger food industry. Mr. Finck replaces outgoing director Jim Nolan, Sara Lee's former CEO and longtime ABA participant and supporter.
Additionally, ABA has appointed J. Bowman Williams, president of B.C. Williams Bakery Service, as the board's special allied at-large representative. His two-year term will begin immediately.

ABA Stresses Importance of Grains Before Dietary Guidelines Committee
The
American Bakers Association (ABA) encouraged the USDA Dietary Guidelines
Advisory Committee to maintain the current recommended daily level of six to 10 grain servings
as part of the 2010 Dietary Guidelines for Americans. "The complex carbohydrates
in grain-based foods provide essential fuel the body needs and are the
foundation of a healthy lifestyle," stated President & CEO Robb
MacKie, of ABA, in oral testimony today. "Grain foods are well-liked by
adults and children and provide an excellent vehicle for Americans to obtain
good nutrition."
