The Assurance That Is Ours In Christ
In times of financial, social,
and medical uncertainties we must be reminded of the "safety net" that is ours
in Christ Jesus our Lord. According to the Bible, "The name of the LORD is
a strong tower: the righteous runneth into it, and is safe." (Proverbs
18:10) Also, in the New Testament we learn that those of us who seek
protection in Christ are:
- Forgiven of our sins - "In whom we have
redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the
riches of his grace." Ephesians 1:7
- Declared to be right with God - "Being
justified freely by his grace through the redemption that is in Christ
Jesus" "And all things are of God, who hath reconciled us to
himself by Jesus Christ, and hath given to us the ministry of
reconciliation" Romans 3:24, 2 Corinthians 5:18
- Hidden with Christ in God - "For ye are dead,
and your life is hid with Christ in God." Colossians 3:3
- Forever protected by the love of God - "Nor
height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us
from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord." Romans 8:39
- Recipients of God's consolation, comfort, and
mercy - "If there be therefore any consolation in Christ, if
any comfort of love, if any fellowship of the Spirit, if any bowels and
mercies." Philippians 2:1
"In Christ" we have
the best possible coverage; we are in the best possible position to weather the
financial, social, and medical storms of life. "In Christ" we have the FULL
ASSURANCE OF FAITH - guaranteed by God's abundance of grace and the gift of
righteousness, regardless of our circumstances. "In Christ" we are in the best
place to hear Jesus tell us not to worry about having enough food or drink or
clothing. Why be like the unbelieving, skeptical world that is so deeply
preoccupied about these things. Our heavenly Father already knows all our
needs, and He will provide all we need from day to day - according to His
riches in glory "In Christ Jesus" - if we live for Him and make "His kingdom
come" our primary concern.
"Therefore take no thought,
saying, What shall we eat? or, What shall we drink? or, Wherewithal shall we be
clothed? 32 (For after all these
things do the Gentiles seek:) for your heavenly Father knoweth that ye have
need of all these things. But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his
righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you." Matthew
6:31-33 (KJV)
