The World's Softest Shoe Makes Walking a Joy

It may sound like another overblown marketing claim, but Joya shoes are scientifcally proven to be the "World's Softest Shoe".  Pressure studies run at the Biomechanics Institute of the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology, Zurich (pressure map shown below) compared Joya, MBT,  ordinary men's dress shoes and standard running shoes. What the study showed is that walking in Joya shoes reduces plantar (sole) pressure on the feet by up to 5 times vs. walking barefoot or the other shoes in the study.  What this means to you is a very soft, comfortable shoe!  To see some of the recent testimonials of Joya, Click Here.

Summer Foot Care Q & A
Don't Let Calluses Cause You to Have a Cruel Summer

Q: I have had calluses for years. What exactly are calluses?
A: Calluses, also called tyloma, are an accumulation of dead skin cells that harden and thicken over an area of the foot such as the sole or side of the big toe. Unsightly calluses can also cause painful burning and throbbing.

Q: What causes calluses?
A: Calluses are caused by repetitive friction or excessive pressure on a particular area of the foot. The skin build up is the body's way of protecting your foot from this friction or pressure.

We carry exclusive and unique brands that you are sure to enjoy!
Certain types of shoes can cause calluses to develop, such as shoes that are too narrow or tight. Foot conditions such as overpronation or bunions can also cause calluses. Going barefoot frequently can lead to calluses
as well.

Q. What is the best way to treat calluses?
A:
First, avoid tight-fitting and high-heeled shoes. Supportive shoes with a wide toe box and low heel are often effective in treating calluses. Arch supports are another way to redistribute weight so that pressure is removed from the affected areas.

At Foot Solutions, we have the answer to your foot problem. Count on us to help you find just the right fit in styles you'll love.

Flip Flops are Usually No Friend of Flat Feet
Find Your Perfect Summer Shoe Match at Foot Solutions

A favorite pair of shoes is much like an old friend. And in the summer, most people like to get reacquainted with their flip flops.

Unfortunately, being a little too chummy with your flip flops can lead to some serious foot problems, such as overpronation, or flat feet. For those who already suffer from overpronation, consistently wearing ordinary flip flops can lead to additional foot problems such as heel spurs, metatarsalgia and bunions.

Overpronation occurs when a person's arch collapses upon weight bearing when walking. The foot rolls inward causing the foot to flatten and place stress on other parts of the foot. Although some people with flat feet don't feel pain right away, after time walking can become painful.

Fortunately, overpronation can be treated simply by wearing shoes or sandals with the proper arch support. Orthaheel sandals, designed by a podiatrist, come in a variety of sizes for men and women and have excellent arch support. Come by to try on a pair and see for yourself.

For closed shoes, a proper fit that includes a firm heel counter is also important in the successful treatment of overpronation. Foot Solutions has a wide selection of wellness shoes that are ideal summer companions. Let our highly-trained staff help you find your perfect summer shoe match today.
