Email is very convenient. We use it to communicate with people around the world. Unfortunately, there are people out there who collect email addresses in order to send junk messages, solicitations, what have you. Sorting and deleting the trash, regardless of the great spam filters available, takes time and effort. It gets to be tiresome.
So do your part to help protect the email addresses of those you are in contact with.
1. If you are sending out a message to a group where everyone may not know each other, don't assume that all recipients are comfortable sharing their email address with strangers. List your name in the TO line and put the list of email addresses in the BCC box. When each recipient opens the email, they will see your name in the TO and FROM boxes and that is all they will see; the individual email addresses of everyone else on the distribution list will be kept hidden -- and private.
2. When forwarding an email, remove all information regarding the previous sender and/or recipients. This includes everything in the body of the text. If you don't have time to do this, then you really don't have time to forward the email.
Maintaining a semblance of privacy on the internet is difficult, if not impossible. Putting forth a little bit of extra effort to not include someone's email address, when appropriate, is a step in the right direction.

Remember...
When it comes to communicating through writing, it is important to show courtesy and respect through your choice of words and actions. Don't let familiarity generate laziness.
