Want to make someone's day? Pay a compliment. It's that easy. The key is to be sincere and honest.
Want to make it even more fun? Pay a compliment to someone you don't know -- perhaps someone you are sharing an elevator ride with, or standing in line next to as you are waiting to order your daily coffee, or ring up your groceries.
It doesn't have to be long and detailed; short and sweet, such as "Cute shoes!" or "Great jacket!" will do it. Throw in a genuine smile and that's all you need. Your friendly comment will catch the other person by surprise -- and may very well make their day.
The benefit to you? It makes you feel good too!

Remember...
How do you approach
strangers? Are they simply bodies sharing the same space or are they
people you don't know?
Minding your "etiquette" is about treating others with courtesy, respect, being friendly and approachable. There is nothing that says it can't be fun and make you feel good too! |
