Etiquette Awareness

Tips, suggestions and stories...

Things to keep in mind as you interact with others

"Etiquette is not about being 'stuffy.'   It's about putting yourself forward in the best possible way, using courtesy to others as your guide, while still allowing your own personality to shine!"

Showing appreciation for others is one of the highest expressions of respect and courtesy we can offer.

It's also one of the surest ways to make connections, strengthen emotional ties, forge friendships and business relationships.

A few months ago a colleague emailed to tell me about an experience he and his partner had had on the Portland Spirit.   He was extremely happy with the service and attention they received not only during their lunch cruise but also when he initially booked the reservation and with the "Thank you for spending the day with us" follow up phone call he received afterwards.

He not only shared his pleasure with me, but more importantly, he also relayed it back to the powers-that-be with the Portland Spirit.
He let them know how much he enjoyed their service and his experience.

On a personal note, a number of you have responded to my newsletters to let me know how they have been of help to you.   You have shared stories and suggestions for future editions and even included me on the messages when you forward one on to others with a recommendation that they may find the information of interest.

To all of you, I say Thank You!   I wrote my first newsletter two years ago this week and have been emailing them ever since.  Your support, encouragement, and at times, laughter, is very much appreciated!

Remember...

Saying "Thank you ... Good job ... I appreciate you ..." only takes a moment but it can have a lasting effect.

A side benefit?  It can make you feel good too!

Please feel free to send me any of your
etiquette or customer service questions or stories!
