Greetings!
Strength for the Journey's Final Steps
"Life in our diocese is so much better than two or three years ago, much better than I could have imagined. Our present journey is an adventure-- it's hard to predict what other good things will happen next."
-- Diocesan Conference Participant, Diocese of Fort Worth, September 2010
Restoring a sense of belonging, a feeling of trust, an outlook of hope--that is a crucial part of what happened over the past three years through Strength for the Journey, CREDO's comprehensive wellness strategy implemented in the reorganizing dioceses of San Joaquin, Pittsburgh, Fort Worth and Quincy. As the Strength for the Journey project is winding to a close, CREDO is telling this "Story of Hope" in video and in a printed report now available on the CREDO website.
Comprising three eight-day CREDO Conferences-- one for clergy and two for lay leaders--and a full schedule of diocesan conferences, the Strength for the Journey project was born out of Presiding Bishop Katharine Jefferts Schori's and House of Deputies President Bonnie Anderson's pastoral concerns about the well-being of the faithful clergy and laity remaining in the four reorganizing dioceses. With support from the Church Pension Fund board, CREDO launched Strength for the Journey as a comprehensive wellness strategy for the reorganizing dioceses.
Read the report, watch the video and listen to comments from the Rt. Rev. Robert H. Johnson, assisting bishop in the Diocese of Pittsburgh in 2009. According to Johnson, "Strength for the Journey is not just for four dioceses in the Episcopal Church, but it is the story of our Church, the Episcopal Church. We all need strength for our journeys individually and as dioceses and as the larger Church. So Strength for the Journey is the Church's story."

 Spread the word ... and
Share your CREDO story at General Convention
As part of our new and expanded post-conference resources, the CREDO Communication team will be in Indianapolis on July 5, 6 and 7 filming interviews of past CREDO participants. MANY of you are already scheduled to spend a few minutes talking about your CREDO conference and your wellness successes and challenges since your return home. Thank you!
Please encourage your friends and colleagues who've attended CREDO to sign up for interviews as well. And if you're not yet scheduled for an interview and will be in Indianapolis this July, please email us and we'll arrange a convenient time for you to share your CREDO story.
Interviews will be short and to the point; we know the General Convention schedule leaves little free time, so we'll work fast. But it will be worth it. The comments and stories of CREDO participants help bring post-conference materials to life and often provide new perspectives and valuable affirmation of the challenges faced by clergy and lay employees of the Church. |

ROC ON
New CREDO Conferences Ready for Enrollment
ROC (Recently Ordained Clergy) Conferences are officially on go. Invitations will be in the mail this month for a new CREDO conference series specifically designed to support clergy of all ages who are still within the first four years of their ordained ministry.
The ROC Conference series requires a two-conference commitment of seven days each, with a year between the first and second conferences. Like other CREDO Conferences, the ROC Conferences provide an opportunity for participants to imagine and realize possible ways of partnering with the movement of God's grace in key areas of their life and vocation. Themes of Identity, Wellness, and Leadership will be explored in light of the early years of ordained ministry through plenary presentations, small groups, and individual reflection, as faculty offer their expertise and participants reflect on their life and vocation.
Also new for the spring and fall of 2013 are CREDO I Six-Day Conferences. The six-day conferences were designed in response to numerous requests for a CREDO I conference offering the same deep and transformative curriculum as the eight-day conference in a time frame that better fits tight schedules. CREDO's Six-Day Conferences are open to all ages. In two new pilot models, conferences will begin on either Monday or Wednesday and will focus on a holistic understanding of wellness that is the cornerstone of all CREDO conferences.
Enrollment for the CREDO I Six-Day Conferences and ROC Conferences is limited. Encourage your friends and colleagues who have never attended a CREDO Conference to look for their CREDO invitation and apply!
