CREDO Faculty Development

& Convocation in mid-February

convocation 2012CREDO will hold its biennial Faculty Convocation February 14-18, preceded by the two-day Faculty Development for 35 new faculty members, in Memphis, Tennessee. Nearly 160 faculty members from Episcopal CREDO and Presbyterian CREDO will gather for fellowship, worship, team formation, and the important planning that takes place for the upcoming season of CREDO conferences. Episcopal CREDO will hold 18 eight-day conferences during 2012, including two CREDO I for Lay Employees and two for CREDO I Spanish. (See entire calendar HERE.)

During the Convocation and in the months following, four faculty teams are developing the conference curriculum for two new conference types: A five-day Spiritual Health CREDO and a five-day Vocational Health CREDO, both of which will be introduced in 2013.

One of the featured presenters will be Dr. Kristin Vickers Douglas, the medical director of the Mayo Clinic Wellness Coaching Program in Rochester, MN, which partners with CREDO for telephonic coaching and health resources.

Seeking First the Kingdom of God

Encountering Others as Ourselves

with the Rev. Dr. Michael Battle

Michael BattleIn this Lenten season, CREDO faculty member and author Michael Battle invites us to embark on that often-scary journey that more fully opens our conscious to God. Why scary?

Michael explains: "Our fright is not so much in God as it is in our insecurities born out of an unexamined life. What tends to scare us is that when we pay better attention to God, our "self" shows up with better clarity. God's light usually displays what we don't want to see.

"During Lent, I invite you into safer space in which to realize the angels' warnings: Do not be afraid! When we do this, scales fall from our eyes. We then see how to make a difference in the world for which Jesus died. God's death is scary (implying our own), but stay tuned in: Lent anxieties transform into joy."

To subscribe to this Lenten series, offered in both text and audio, click HERE and update your CREDO publication profile to include Lent 2012. The several-step process (which is designed to reduce your spam) just takes two minutes and will be well worth the trouble.

CREDO Associate Director and Managing Director of Fresh Start

leaves post in January

Mike EhmerThe Rev. J. Michael Ehmer, associate director of CREDO Institute, Inc., concluded his work at the Memphis-based office at the end of January 2012. Ehmer served as the managing director of the churchwide Fresh Start program, which provides resources and training for dioceses to assist their clergy and congregations in times of transition. During his tenure, the program was stabilized and the curriculum was enhanced to meet the changing needs of dioceses and congregations.

Ehmer also provided administrative and financial oversight for the College for Bishops and worked closely with its Board of Directors and Managing Director Bishop Clay Matthews.

Ehmer served on the CREDO conference faculty for four years, and is preparing to return to parish ministry.

"Mike Ehmer served CREDO extremely well for five years especially through his work with Fresh Start and the College for Bishops. He truly exercised CREDO's core commitment to healthy transformations within the Episcopal Church. These critical programs are stronger and more effective because of the leadership Mike provided," said William S. Craddock, managing director of CREDO.
