Women's Business Network
Meeting August 9th

The Western Dairyland Women's Business Center will host a Women's Business Network meeting on Educational Opportunities for Working Adults with Joan Sosalla on Thursday, August 9th. Women interested in pursuing higher education to further their business and professional goals are encouraged to attend. The meeting is free to attend and will be held from noon to 1 p.m. at the Western Dairyland Community Action Agency, 418 Wisconsin St., Eau Claire.

Educational Opportunity Network (EON), a state funded program, assists adults age nineteen and older who are thinking about going to college. There are no eligibility standards to use the EON service and assistance is available regardless the individual's choice of college or university. Clients range from having no college experience to already having a bachelors degree and beyond. This is a free service that helps adults look at their interests, what they already have for schooling and experience and how they can plan for the future. EON counselors continuously meet with the adults they serve by assisting them in filing financial aid and seeking additional financial help. The EON also provides assistance in seeking resources for other school-related problems as well as resolving other barriers to a successful college experience. Joan will go into more detail on what the Educational Opportunity Network is and how it can work for you.

Joan Sosalla is the Director of the Educational Opportunity Network. She has a BS in Communications Disorders from UWEC, a Masters Degree in Learning Disabilities from UW La Crosse and a PhD in Educational Administration from UW Madison. Sosalla has been involved in assisting the adult learner for over 20 years in various roles such as a campus administrator for technical colleges, director of Continuing Education units as well running her own life coaching business that specializes in life transitions for adults.

Women's Business Network meetings are free and open to the public. They take place over the lunch hour on the second Thursday of each month. Participants are encouraged to bring their own bag lunch and plenty of business cards. The goal of the meetings is to facilitate networking relationships among women business owners, allowing them to expand their small business knowledge. The structure of the meetings will allow participants to learn from an expert in the field and from each other's shared experiences. For more information call (715) 836-7511 ext. 171 or visit www.SuccesssfulBusiness.org.
