Women's Business Network Meeting - February 10, Noon-1pm
HOW TO PREPARE FOR AND WORK AT A TRADE SHOW OR EXPO
Guest speaker Kay Vande Loo, owner of Impact Advertising, will address the Women's Business Network meeting on Thursday, February 10. The meeting will take place from noon to 1 p.m. at Western Dairyland, 418 Wisconsin Street, Eau Claire.
Business owners interested in exhibiting at the 8th Annual Women's Business Conference on April 21, 2011 are especially encouraged to attend and will be given a $20 discount off exhibitor registration fees to be redeemed the same day.
In preparation for the 2011 Women's Business Conference, Vande Loo will be sharing her knowledge as a longtime entrepreneur and experience from the advertising industry. The meeting will cover topics such as: how to prepare for and work at trade shows or expos, how to design an effective display that will draw prospective clients to you, and how to best use promotional materials for your brand, business, or product.
Women's Business Network meetings are open to the public and take place over lunch hour on the second Thursday of each month. Participants are encouraged to bring their own bag lunch and plenty of business cards.The goal of the meetings is to facilitate networking relationships among women business owners. The meetings are structured to allow participants to learn from an expert in the field and from each other's experiences while simultaneously acquiring local business contacts.

Inventors and Entrepreneurs Club - February 10
GREEN BUSINESS PRACTICES TO BE FEATURED AT INVENTORS & ENTREPRENEURS CLUB
Scott Deml, a Business Development Specialist at Western Dairyland, will speak at the February 10th meeting of the Jackson County Inventors & Entrepreneurs Club. Deml will discuss green and sustainable business practices that can help small businesses to become eco-friendly and green in their business practices. The low cost and cost saving ideas presented at the meeting will improve an existing business or aid in starting a new business without hurting your bottom line.
The Jackson County Inventors & Entrepreneurs Club is a project of the Western Dairyland Community Action Agency. The goal of the club is to create a positive learning environment that will enable participants to successfully move their products to market or to receive assistance in the development of a business plan. No registration is required to attend the monthly meetings and there are no fees to join.
The club meets on the second Thursday of every month at 6:30 p.m. at the Black River Area Chamber of Commerce, 120 N. Water St., Black River Falls. The meetings are free and open to anyone in Western Wisconsin who would like to learn from experienced professionals and discuss their ideas with other local inventors and entrepreneurs. Each meeting features a guest speaker and opportunity for networking.

Seven Steps to Starting a Business - February 24
LEARN THE BASIC STEPS TO STARTING A BUSINESS
Entrepreneurs and aspiring business owners are invited to attend The 7 Steps to Starting a Business on Thursday, February 24. The class will run from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. at the Western Dairyland Community Action Agency, 418 Wisconsin Street, Eau Claire.
This training session teaches participants how to start a business by assembling the pieces of a business plan. Topics covered include feasibility, proving your market, funding your business, writing a business plan, marketing, business legal structure and more.
After the class, attendees may request free, one-on-one assistance from Western Dairyland's Business Development Specialists to determine the feasibility of their business idea and identify sources to prove their market. Business Development Specialists may also help with the preparation of business plans and financial forecasts which could be presented to lenders.
Tuition is $25 for individuals and class materials are included. Scholarships are available for income-eligible individuals.

BUSINESS PLAN BASICS WEBINAR SCHEDULED FOR FEBRUARY 28th
Entrepreneurs and aspiring business owners are invited to participate in "Business Plan Basics," a free one-hour webinar at 6 p.m. on Monday, February 28th. The webinar is being presented by the Western Dairyland Business Centers.
Business Development Specialist Scott Deml will explain why business plans are necessary, and he'll describe the step-by-step process involved in developing a successful plan. Deml will also discuss common mistakes that need to be avoided during preparation and presentation of a business plan.
This webinar will be the launching point for anyone who wants to learn more about the process of writing a business plan. After the webinar, participants may request free, one-on-one assistance from Western Dairyland's Business Development Specialists to determine the feasibility of their business idea and identify sources to prove their market. Business Development Specialists may also help with the preparation of business plans and financial forecasts which could be presented to lenders.

Get Acquainted with the Sales World at the "How to Be on Top" WorkshopThe "How to Be on Top" Workshop is hosted by The Wisconsin Group and will help familiarize small business owners and entrepreneurs with the intricacies of the selling your product, business, or label.
