Summer is here and we have some great business events planned, including a four-part summer marketing series at the monthly Women's Business Network meetings, a summer Quickbooks training and (back by popular demand) email marketing with Constant Contact! All events are free, unless otherwise indicated. So, mark your calendars!

Women's Business Network Meeting
"Corporate Branding & Marketing Your Business through a Transition"
Karen Kraus, of Metropolis Resort, is the guest speaker on Thursday, June 10th. The meeting will take place from noon to 1 p.m. at the Western Dairyland Community Action Agency, 418 Wisconsin Street, Eau Claire.
This is the second of a four part marketing series, upcoming meetings will include:
- Marketing Plans: More than just Flyers and Facebook (July 8)
- How to Market for Free (August 12)
Women's Business Network meetings are free and open to all women entrepreneurs and business professionals. Attend one session or as many as you wish.

7 Steps to Starting a Business
Learn the Basic Steps in Building a Successful Business Plan
Tuesday, June 15, 6-9 p.m.
Western Dairyland, 418 Wisconsin St, Eau Claire
This training session teaches participants how to start a business by assembling the pieces of a business plan. Topics covered include feasibility, proving your market, funding your business, writing a business plan, marketing, business legal structure and more. After the class, attendees may apply for free, one-on-one assistance from Western Dairyland's Business Development Specialists to determine the feasibility of their business idea and identify sources to prove their market. Business Development Specialists may also help with the preparation of business plans and financial forecasts which could be presented to lenders.
Tuition is $25, class materials are included. Scholarships are available for eligible individuals. There are three easy ways to register and pay for the class: online at www.SuccessfulBusiness.org/eventschedule/, by phone at 715.836.7511.ext 171, or in person at the Western Dairyland office in downtown Eau Claire. Registration and payment must be received three days before the class. Arrangements for persons with special needs will be made if requested at least two weeks in advance. |
Constant Contact Training
The Western Dairyland Business Center and Western Wisconsin SCORE present two free email marketing seminars for small businesses and non-profit organizations. The seminars will take place on Wednesday, July 7th at the Plaza Hotel and Suites, 1202 W. Clairemont Avenue in Eau Claire, WI. Jeff Ferrazzo, Regional Development Director for Constant Contact, a web based email marketing program, will be presenting "The Power of Email Marketing" and "Getting Started with Constant Contact."
Session 1, 9:30 - 11:30am: The Power of Email Marketing
Email marketing is about getting your message heard in a world of increasing email communications. In this seminar, you will learn how email marketing works, obtain useful email marketing tips, and discover the nuts and bolts including email marketing strategy and techniques.
In this session, you will gain insight on how to build your lists and use subject lines to get your emails opened! Maximize email marketing communications to develop content and find out how to create professional looking emails that will WOW your customers. This session is designed to give you the information that you need, but never know how to find!

QuickBooks for your Business
The Western Dairyland Business Center and Evlyn Carlile of Simple Office Solutions are presenting a 3-session workshop on QuickBooks July 12, 19, 26. Choose to attend from 1-4pm or from 6-9pm. Fee $149
QuickBooks is the most widely used accounting software among small business owners. At the end of the series, attendees will have set up an individualized company file for their company which they will be able to import to their own business computer system.
