Chang DeJuan

JuanJuan is continuing her recovery at the Center in the loving arms of the nannies. It has taken a while for her incision to heal, and the pressure on her brain is being closely monitored. But for now, all is well. With winter coming all too soon, they will have to be on guard so that the little ones stay clear of any flu bugs. A Center full of fragile little ones is always an easy target for outbreaks of any virus lurking!

Thank you all for your support of little DeJuan.

Vietnam - Special Needs

September 1 has now passed and the adoption agreement between the United States and Vietnam has now expired.  We were able to get a few more referrals prior to September 1 but not enough for all the families wanting to adopt.  We hope the US and Vietnam will work hard to see that adoptions are open again in Vietnam as soon as possible by reaching a new agreement.

in the meantime we will be proceeding with special needs adoptions which are permitted even without an adoption agreement.  From what we know, children will not be adoptable due to their age,
or because they are part of a sibling group. Only those children who have an actual medical condition would be considered special needs.

Any family who is interested in pursuing this program with us should let us know as soon as possible. In that case, we will leave your
dossier in Vietnam, and simply attach an addendum to your home study which will approve you to adopt a child with special needs. Click on SPECIAL NEEDS FORM to let us know which special needs you would consider.

While we would be thrilled to find families for all the special needs children we may encounter in the orphanages, we certainly understand that not all of you may be open to the adoption of a child with a
medical condition, big or small. It is a choice to be made by each family, and we will respect your decision.

This would be a good time to research any medical conditions you think might work within your family dynamics, so that you would be prepared if we were to contact you about a particular child.

Any family who is not interested in a special needs adoption will have their dossier returned to them, at their request, once the dossiers have been released to our staff in Vietnam. You may also
leave your dossier in Vietnam with us in case a new agreement is signed in the future and regular adoption programs are opened again.

Keep your fingers crossed. If we cannot help all the orphaned children in Vietnam, maybe we can at least help the ones who need us the most.

New Babies at the Siping Center
3 babies
The Changchun orphanage was in need of our help when they contacted us recently. They had admitted nine babies in three weeks around the end of June. We were able to take five of them, but they asked us to take more. We were really not able to take on any additional babies, but we knew we could not say no, since they had no where else to go.   We made the decision to send Chang DeCong, Chang DeDong, and Chang DeHai back to the Changchun orphanage since their conditions had improved. DeHai needs additional medical tests, DeDong will need heart surgery and hernia repair, and DeChong has gained enough weight so that he is strong enough to survive orphanage life for a time. We were not ready to send them back yet, but had no choice since we had to make room for the neediest little ones.

We need to hire two more nannies so that we can take on additional babies. We do not want to send the little ones back to their orphanage before they are ready to return due to lack of staffing at the Center. But in order to hire two more nannies, we will require more funds to cover their salaries. Your donations can help support more children in need!

To see the three newest babies that have arrived just click on their names below.  The need is great! But we can only do so much with the funding we currently have.
