| Tian Tian and Zhang Qi |
It looks as if Tian Tian will have her surgery this next week. She has had a cold but is much stronger and healthier now so the doctors think they can schedule her surgery soon. We will keep everyone informed by this newsletter after the surgery.
As we said in our last newsletter, thanks to the donations from many of you good people we were able to raise more than was needed for Tian Tian's surgery and we would hold the remainder of the funds either for unseen costs for Tian Tian or for surgery for the next child.
Well, the next child requiring emergency medical care arrived sooner than expected. His name is Zhang Qi and he was born on October 15, 2007. Hannah knew this little boy had been brought to the orphanage last month and that he had a cleft lip and palate. When the orphanage brought over a 4 year old deaf girl to our center Hannah asked how Zhang Qi was doing. They told her he was not doing well because he could not keep milk down and vomits almost everything he eats. The head nanny from our center went immediately to the orphanage to see him and found that he was quite literally skin and bones. As soon as Hannah was contacted by the head nanny she contacted us for help.
We wired over $1500 so he could be admitted to the hospital. We don't know how much the total hospital costs will be. The hospital did not have an available incubator for him so we had to take the one from our center over to the hospital. He is now in the hospital and on Saturday morning Dr. Yu Fang-jun (Hannah's husband) will go to Siping to consult with the doctors there about Zhang Qi's condition. He may require surgery or he may be too weak to undergo any surgery that may be needed. We just don't know at this time.
Please keep Zhang Qi and all the doctors attempting to help him in your prayers.
Dick and Cheryl Graham
