Tian Tian Is Home
Tian Tian

Tian Tian has returned from Shanghai Hospital to our center in Siping.  They were unable to remove the cyst in her brain but they were able to get her shunt to function again.  They may be able to operate at a later time on the cyst but at least the shunt is functioning properly for now and has reduced the pressure on her brain.

We have raised approximately $1400 for the surgery and travel expenses for Tian and one of the nannies.  We have not received the bill from the hospital yet but we expect that travel and medical bills will be close to $3000 or more, with more expenses for her medical care in the near future.

If you would like to contribute to Tian Tian's expenses you can click on the PayPal button below. Thanks to everyone who has so generously given to help this sweet baby girl! A special thanks to Charlotte Holmes, her guardian angel.

New Arrival at the Center
Dang
Chang Shi Yan arrived at the Changchun Center on July 26, 2007 from the Changchun orphanage.  He is a one year old boy with several bones missing in his skull.  He could not sit or crawl.  He is a happy boy and does smile but we could not get a smile for the camera.

Little Qiuhui - New Arrival

Our newsletters often have the bright smiling faces of the children that are doing so well in our Centers and we are always happy to see these and to show them to you.  We also need to show you the condition of some of these children when they arrive at the Center.  One such child is Chang Qiuhui.  She arrived at our Changchun Center July 26, 2007 from the Changchun Orphanage.  The photo below was taken shortly after her arrival.

chang

Qiuhui is between four and six years old. That's right, four to six years old!  Hannah describes her as "nothing but skin and bones". When she arrived she cried contantly and had severe diarrhea.  They say she cries less now.  She is presently under the care of Dr. Frank and the wonderful ladies at the Center.  They have stopped the diarrhea and have her on high nutrition foods to try to help her gain weight.  She could not sit or roll over when she arrived but within 10 days of her arrival she could roll herself around a little.  She clearly has some vision problems and her other health issues are yet to be diagnosed. We are just relieved she came to us when she did. We do not know how much longer she would have survived in that condition.

We wanted you to see her so you will know the life saving work the ladies at the center and Frank and Hannah do every day!  We can't be there with them to rock the babies, feed them and stay up all night with them, but we do our best to support them with the funds necessary to care for these children who need our help and yours.

If you would like to contribute to the funding for the Changchun and the Siping Centers you can click on the PayPal button below.  All donations are appreciated.  Every dollar counts when you are helping a child like Qiuhui.

Changchun Center - Update
4 kids
Please note: these four girls already have families who will be traveling to China to adopt them soon!

(This update is from Hannah, with a little editing from Cheryl)

July to August, we got some quite hot days!  The windows are all open day and night and  the kids seem to be growing faster in these hot days! See Dang KangYang, Dang XinHui, Dang LuQi and Dang XiaoLing (from left to right). Our four happy and beautiful birds! They are buddies and hang together each day in their classroom and playing room. They are posing with big smiles for Frank's camera.

Dang Kang Yang

Dang Kang Yang or Yang Yang as we call her, has gained weight and said good-bye to diapers. Her language develops faster, she can use two words, express more ideas, such as "good teacher, Da Yi ".

Xin Hui

Xin Hui is very understanding and loving, ready to help the others. She is a little bit shy at first. She is the one with more vocabulary and every nanny said how smart she is.

Lu Qi

Dang LuQi, or Qiqi, is an outgoing girl, a little bit aggressive. Everyone can see her emotions easily from her facial expressions.

Xiao Ling

Dang Xiao Ling, Lingling, is very cooperative, helpful and speaks very loudly.  She has a quick response to everything and enjoys receiving praise.  Her fine motor skills are developing well and she is very good at making handicrafts.  She is very observant and has a rich imagination.

QiuJing

Dang GuiJing had her cast redone recently and she has adjusted well.  Her new parents will be in China in a few weeks to adopt her.  We hope these casts will be off by the time they arrive.
We currently have nine children in our Changchun Center and nine in our Siping Center. They are all special needs infants and children who have medical needs that cannot be met at the orphanages from which they came. It is our hope to be able to give them the medical attention, nutrition, and perhaps most importantly, the love and attention they need so that they will have the best chance possible of a healthy, happy life. Your support is greatly appreciated.
Sincerely,

Richard and Cheryl Graham
