Wu Chun Ben Available Again
Article Headline
Important: Two Pieces of Good News!!
New Cao Photo
First:  Shelli Young has received her pre-approval from the CCAA to adopt Cao Xiao Cao.  Needless to say she was ecstatic and cannot wait to bring him home.  Her dossier will be at the CCAA when they reopen on Monday after their holiday this week.  Thanks again to everyone who helped make her adoption possible by making a donation.  You are a generous group of people. It is amazing how many have been touched by Cao's story!

Second: Many of you may know that we had a single mom turned down recently by the CCAA because she is African-American; not because she is single.  She wanted to fight this and we were behind her all the way.  As word of this spread on the Internet, she received support from all over the world.  Suddenly, on Monday, April 23rd we received her approval from the CCAA.  We don't know what changed their mind but we do know they monitor the Internet.  We think it was the power of all of you supporting her that made the difference.  On behalf of her we would like to thank you all for this support.  Once again, just as in Shelli's case,  we can accomplish great things when we all work together.

Wu Chun Ben Available for Adoption Again
Wu Chun Ben Standing Wu Chun Ben had been chosen by a family about two months ago and we have just learned that they have now decided not to adopt her.  We are at the end of the time we can keep her file and it must be sent back to the CCAA if we do not find a family for her in the next few days. Chun Ben is almost 3 years old and is blind. This precious little girl needs a family who will follow through with their commitment to adopt her and will love her forever!
Before You Commit to A Child!!

We had placed this in several emails before but it should be repeated again.

Before you commit to adopt a special needs child:

1.  Investigate the special need completely.  There are many resources available on the Internet and also your local doctors.  Know what the possibilities are for treatment, long term disability, and worse case scenarios for the special need you are considering.

2. Know your own financial situation.  Unfortunately, adoptions can be expensive.  Don't go into an adoption with the hope that you will be able to come up with the money somehow.  Lay out a realistic plan for the funds.  When we win the lottery we will let you all know and there will be no fees for the adoptions, but until that happens there are fees that must be paid.

3. Don't sign up with an agency and send in your dossier until you have found the special needs child you wish to adopt.  The CCAA will no longer allow families to switch agencies or agencies to transfer children's files.

Please keep in mind that these children have very little time to find their family.  Many of them have waited a long time already and some need medical treatment that can make a big difference in their long term prognosis.

These children cannot wait.  When you make a commitment to a child you are promising to get your dossier together ASAP.  We have had families take as long as two years, yes...that is not a typo, two years to get their dossier to us with one excuse after another.  This is not acceptable!  If you are not willing to make the commitment to bring your child home as soon as possible then do not commit to a child.  The CCAA expects the dossier to be submitted within two months of the pre-approval. We know that this is impossible in most cases; we expect a family to submit their dossier within six months unless there is an unavoidable reason for delay such as an extended wait for approval by the USCIS.

We should be receiving our new list of waiting children very soon. We hope they will all find new families to love and cherish them.
