Difficulties of Getting Updates From China
We know the desire of all families to get updated information on their children and to know where their dossier is in the approval process. We share that desire with you and pass along any information we receive to you as soon as we have it. However the CCAA is making it more difficult to receive any updates or other information about a specific case.
The CCAA recently stated the following:
1. They will not give any family an update on their child if the child's medical was less than one year old when they submitted their LOI.
2. They will not give an update if the family took longer than 2 to 3 months to submit their dossier after they received pre-approval.
3. The CCAA does not want or allow agencies or families to contact the orphanages directly. This includes those services that will contact the orphanage for you. The CCAA has stated that orphanages will be punished if it is determined they have been giving information to agencies or families.
4. The CCAA does not want agencies contacting them to find out where files are in the process unless there is a group of cases logged in at the same time and all receive PA's, LOA's or TA's except for one.
We understand the frustration that these rules bring to all the families waiting and we understand that these rules may not seem fair. However, they are the rules we must all abide by at this time. We ask that you understand that we do all we can to bring you as much information about your child and the progress of your dossier as possible. If it were up to us we would get regular updates and know where your dossier is at every minute but that is not possible under the current situation at the CCAA.
There is something you can do to bring your child home as soon as possible. You can do all the parts of the process that are under your control as quickly as possible. It is frustrating to us to have families demanding updates on their children when it has taken the family a year to submit their dossier after they received pre-approval from the CCAA.
So, for the time being we must operate under these rules. You can do your part by completing your dossier as quickly as possible. Perhaps the CCAA will change their rules if they see families doing a better job of getting their dossiers to the CCAA quickly.
