"The video on how to hit a stinger (on www.knowmoe.com) rules!!

I went out today in pretty windy conditions-windy for us guys in the north east about 30 mph, I know that's not real wind in you Texas/ Oklahoma boys - I went over the stinger video on the know Moe site and was anxious to give it a try. The first 5 holes was with the wind so I wasn't able to use the stinger until the 6th hole which is a 150 yd par 3. I took one more club, 7 instead of 8 and hit my stinger under the wind to about 8 feet and drained the putt for my 4th straight birdie today.  The 7th and 8th were dead into the wind and by hitting the stinger I was actually able to get the tee ball to where I would normally hit the ball in calm conditions. The ball stayed about 10 feet off the ground and just kept going. It was a beautifull sight.  Thanks Tim for putting up that video. Between Todds ball position video and your stinger video I had my best 9 hole round ever at my home course. I shot a 31 on our par 35 front. I had 5 birdies and one bogey and the rest pars.  The stinger actually worked so good that I think it improved my normal ball striking. Everything I hit today was so crisp. Now I don't know if the stinger is designed to help you with your ball striking but it sure helped mine today.
The only problem is that this is the first 9 hole round I played since last tuesdays round, and I shot even par on the back last week and now 4 under this week on the front so now its going to be combined to make up a score of 67 on my handicap card. It sure looks good but how the heck am I going to be able to play to that now?  Oh well, I'll just have to keep up those scores or keep them down, you know what I mean. Thanks again for making such a great amount of awesome videos at our finger tips."

Tim Graves
Practice Tip:

Do you want to cut your handicap in HALF?
Find out how a fellow alumni did it in just 4 months.
&
Continuation of Winter Practice

by Todd & Tim Graves

Questions - Do you want to cut your handicap in 1/2 in the next few months?  Do you think it would take hours and hours of practice each day and 1000s of practice balls?  If you do, you are GREATLY mistaken.

This past week, we were at our golf school at Barona Golf Course in San Diego, CA.  The first 5 days, we held a camp with 7 participants - one was an alumni from our OKC camp this past June.  He told me he was so happy with his improvement from his June camp, he wanted to bring his wife to our CA camp and continue his learning/improvement.

After talking to him - I wanted to share his experience/journey with everyone to help your golf game.

First some background:

Name:  Bob D. (his name on our forum - www.moenormanforum.com is bobch53e)
Occupation:  American Airline Pilot
Married (Bob and his wife Tomoe are both GGA alumni)
Children - mid 20s....
GGA Camps attended - GGA June '08 camp and last week - Oct ' 08
Handicap / golf scores prior to attending GGA camp:  17+ (average score low 90s)
Handicap today (4 months after attending GGA camp):  11 (average score high 70s / low 80s)
Low score:  75 (one month ago)
Time spent at range hitting balls - Twice a week

Bob has lowered his handicap  by nearly 40% in just 4 months.

Why do I give you his background - to show you he is just like most - full time job, family, etc.. limited time to practice - but here is the kicker - he has dropped his handicap considerably in just a few months - very different than most conventional golfers.

Now let's talk about Bob's recommendations to you and what you can learn from Bob's progress....

First - Bob does not spend a lot of time each week hitting golf balls.  Rather - he spends most of his time (he says a few minutes up to an hour+) each night working on the PVC drill and extended training grip club drill.  He does hit a few balls into a net he has built in his garage, but has spent a majority of his time working on this swing since our last camp working on the PVC drill with and extended training grip club drill.

To see more about the PVC drill please click HERE

To see more about the video containing the PVC drill, etc.. please click HERE

Second - Bob understands making changes is a process and that it does take time, but the time can be minimized / shortened if the process is done right.  He understands that he needs to check his changes to make sure he is on the "right track".  To do so, he participates in our Internet Golf Academy - by far the easiest way to check your swing, determine what changes need to be made and get ongoing instruction from the GGA - you can see more at:  http://swinglikemoe.com/index.php?customernumber=98224626591949&pr=Internet_Golf_Academy&=SID

Bob's wife Tomoe told me is was very interesting to see Bob's change before he attended our first camp to when he came back.  He no longer "randomly" practiced, hit balls, etc.. but rather seemed to always have something to work on (as we call it - practicing with a purpose everytime).  In fact, Tomoe told me she became interested in our schools/camps watching the change in Bob - she wanted more information on what he was working on.

They both told me they the love our new webinars and they watch our webinars again and again for the new information (you can see more at www.knowmoe.com)

I asked Bob what he considered the biggest factor of his success - he told me it was understanding making changes is a process - a continual process and each change you make is a step toward improvement and obviously better scores....

Notes from Todd:

As your golf instructors for the Moe Norman Single Plane Golf Swing, we are always looking for better and different ways to teach you.  The different ways allow all of you, who learn differently, to resonate with the various drills, instruction and information.

We are all uniquely human and we all learn differently. This means that some of you will enjoy the material while others may not find that it suits their type of learning.  Which brings me to an important bit of information - something you need to know about the next three months and how important these months could be for your golf swing progress.

Even though all of us learn differently, there is one common denominator that neutralizes our ability to change.  This common denominator is time and effort.  No matter how you learn or what how your enjoy learning, it is going to take both time and effort to change.

Years ago, NASA performed an experiment that explains this phenomenon.   They were experimenting with Scientists to study their stress levels so they placed goggles on them that turned their worlds literally upside down.  Can you image wearing something that makes everything you see upside down?  The scientists then sat back and observed.

Obviously the astronauts experienced huge amounts of stress but after some time, the stress reduced, then after 26 to 30 days, the image through the glasses turned right side up!  They saw normally again.

Now the reason I am fascinated by this study, other than the fact that NASA treats human beings like Guinea Pigs, is that this study exactly represents why the world needs golf instructors.  Let me explain.

When the astronauts first wore the goggles, their worlds changed.  Everything they knew, or thought they knew, was suddenly rearranged.  This significant change stressed their nervous systems.  Now, if you are like me, you would have taken the goggles off and said "forget it, I don't need this stress, I'm going back to my normal, right-side-up world".

So why does this relate to golf instruction?  Because, this is the exact response you experience when you make a golf swing change and you try to play a round of golf and start hitting bad shots.  The bad shots and stress caused by the confusion makes your brain revert back to what is comfortable or feels normal.    You take off the goggles.

What I didn't tell you about the NASA experiment was the most important part of the experiment.  They found, after continuing theses studies, that if the astronauts removed the goggles anytime during the 26 to 30 day period, that they would never adjust to the changes.  In other words, by interrupting the brain's rebuilding process, it would go back to the comfortable patterns, just as you do when you play golf after a lesson.

The story about the astronauts is about change.  Fortunately, our brains develop patterns and habits and this keeps us alive.  But if we have something in our lives that we want to make different, we must observe our current patterns and actively change them until the new change becomes habit.  We must put on goggles and most importantly, keep them on!

This winter is an important winter.  Why?  Because I want you to, as my brother Tim would say, "think outside the box".

While most people think the winter months are a time to take off, away from golf.  I believe the opposite.  I believe that the winter gives us an opportunity away from playing the game where we can focus specifically on changes we want to make.  The winter is a great time to put on the goggles and keep them on.

As an instructor if this winter is like last winter, I will have plenty of time to play golf myself as my students take time off.  This is a huge mistake and a complete waste of your precious time for improvement.   Why wait until next year to start working on your game?  This thinking makes no sense!

I challenge all of you, who desire to play a better game of golf, to take this winter seriously as the most important time that you have to improve.    Get busy now and start making plans to visit us this winter.  We would love to get out the goggles and get you on your way to the best golf of your life in 2009.

Remember - Always Practice with a Purpose!!
