eHomily  by Pastor Ron...

 Pastor Ron Harvey

I ran across an interesting article recently which serves me well in illustrating our proper perspective on the Word of God in the world in which we live. The author was explaining the scientific principle of refraction. If you place a spoon in a glass of water which is two-thirds full, it appears that the spoon is bent or broken. You know the spoon is not bent or broken; it appears that way simply because as the light passes through the water, a distortion is created.

The world in which we live has created a distorted view of reality. People so often view life as culture defines it-and that's always wrong. If you look at life through the eyes of the world it appears that our faith is broken. It makes you think, "Hey, there must be something wrong with my faith."   No! It's not your faith that is broken; it is the distorted view of culture which is broken.

God teaches us to gain a perspective on life through the lens of the Word of God. When you begin to look at the totality of your life from the viewpoint of scripture and not culture, then the truth becomes clear and bright. God's Word and God's will make sense. This is where you can learn to think straight and live right. This is where you find how to build a good life.

The Psalmist said, "Blessed is the man who walks not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor stands in the path of the sinners, nor sits in the seat of the scornful; but his delight is in the law of the Lord, and in His law he meditates day and night. He shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that brings forth its fruit in its season, whose leaf also shall not wither; and whatever he does shall prosper" (Psalm 1:1-3).

This is the place to plant your life and sink your roots. Here is where you can find personal stability and true prosperity. Build here and you will never regret it! That's a promise-not just from me but from the Lord Almighty!

Have a Blessed Day,

Pastor Ron
