The Fruit of the Spirit Series - Galatians 5:22-23
What we have learned so far...
One of the great themes of scripture is on God's faithfulness to His children. Let me give you a sampling:
"Great is your faithfulness" (Lamentations 3:23).
"I will sing of the Lord's great love forever; with my mouth I will make your faithfulness known through all generations. I will declare...that you established your faithfulness in heaven itself" (Psalm 89:1-2).
"It is good...to proclaim your love in the morning and your faithfulness at night" (Psalm 92:1-2).
"Your faithfulness continues through all generations" (Psalm 119:90).
"O Lord, you are my God; I will exalt you and praise your name, for in perfect faithfulness you have done marvelous things..." (Isaiah 25:1).
Devotional writer, A.W. Tozer, has written:
"Faithfulness is that in God which guarantees that He will never be or act inconsistent with Himself... All that God says or does must be in accord with all His attributes, including His attribute of faithfulness...God is faithful! He will remain faithful because He cannot change. He is perfectly faithful, because God is never partly anything. God is perfectly all that He is and never partly what He is. You can be sure that God will always be faithful. This faithful God, who never broke a promise and never violated a covenant, who never said one thing and meant another, who never overlooked anything or forgot anything, is the Father of our Lord Jesus and the God of the Gospel. This is the God we adore and the God we preach." (Attributes of God, Vol.2)
Amen and Amen! God is faithful! Now please understand this:
What God is to us is what He expects of us. And it is Faithfulness!
Since all of this is true then we have every reason in the world to expect this of ourselves as children of a faithful God. May our dear Lord give us the strength and determination to prove faithful to Him!
