Have you ever wondered what it would be like to see an angel? Well, I have good news! If you will one day be in Heaven, you will one day see angels in Heaven. And lots of them...
The Apostle John saw in Heaven, "Many angels, numbering thousands upon thousands, and ten thousand times ten thousand" (Revelation 5:11). There were, literally, too many to count!
There are many angels in Heaven, though not all angels in Heaven have the same assignment. There are different orders of angels in Heaven which represent different responsibilities. In fact, there are, at least, three orders of angels which can be identified in scripture. Do you know what they are?
Perhaps, you are thinking, "Well, there is Charley's Angels..." Okay, I'm just kidding! Here are the orders of angels:
1. Cherubim Angels-these are attendants or assistants to God. In Genesis 3:24 they are assigned to guard the entrance to the Garden of Eden. They are also represented in the Holy of Holies above the Mercy Seat, indicating their presence surrounding the unseen presence of God in the Tabernacle.
2. Seraphim Angels-these are apparently worship leaders and their name means "burning ones." They burn with devotion in their worship of God.
They are seen by Isaiah in his vision of God "on a throne high and lifted up" and the seraphs were calling out, "Holy, Holy, Holy is the Lord Almighty; the whole earth is full of his glory" (Isaiah 6:1-3).
3. Guardian Angels-These are ministering angels such as is found in Matthew 4:11 where it says, "the angels came and attended him (Jesus)" after the forty days in the wilderness. These angels are sent to "sent to serve those who will inherit salvation" (Hebrews 1:14) and so these are the ones who serve you, dear child of God. How does it make you feel to know that God loves you so much that He sent an angel(s) to watch over you? That's how much He loves you! One day you will have the opportunity in eternity to thank your angel for his service, but you can thank God today and in eternity for His watch care and protection.
So it's true that we have friends in high places!
Have a Blessed Day,
Pastor Ron
