C.S. Lewis once wrote about our desire for Heaven:

"Creatures are not born with desires unless satisfaction for those desires exists.  A baby feels hunger: well there is such a thing as food.  A duckling wants to swim: well there is such a thing as water.  Men feel sexual desire: well, there is such a thing as sex.  If I find in myself a desire which no experience in this world can satisfy, the most probable explanation is that I was made for another world.  If none of my earthly pleasures satisfy it, that does not mean the universe is a fraud...that earthly pleasures were never meant to satisfy it, but only to arouse it, to suggest the real thing" (Mere Christianity).

God has created us with a desire, a longing, a gnawing for Heaven. It is an immovable hope and insatiable hunger deep within our hearts. The writer of Ecclesiastes explains, "He has set eternity in the hearts of men" (Ecclesiastes 3:11).

As I said this past Sunday--our hearts are like a homing device for Heaven, a divining rod for streams of living water.  We long for eternal life.  Everything within us will not settle for anything less for us.  It is simply because "God has set eternity in the hearts of men."

Only Heaven can satisfy the desire for Heaven.  And only Jesus can give us the gift of Heaven.  This is the greatest gift the world has ever known! It comes by His grace as supplied though His death at Calvary and it is received by faith in Jesus Christ. It will take an eternity to say thanks for the gift of Heaven.  Thankfully, through Jesus we will have the opportunity!

How about you?  If you have never received the gift of Heaven, I would love to talk to you about this. The issue of eternity is something we all need to deal with eventually.  So why not now?  Let me know if you would like to talk...

This Sunday I will be sharing on the subject: What Will We Do In Heaven?  Hope to see you there!

Blessings Today (and for all eternity),
