Important Insurance Information for BCRPA Registered Group Fitness Leaders |
If you are a BCRPA registered group fitness leader, and you work with pre and postnatal women, please review the following critera to make sure that you are covered by the BCRPA/HUB International TOS Limitied insurance plan.
Requirements for coverage:
1. The BCRPA registered group fitness instructor must have a valid pre and postnatal fitness certification. (a) This means attending a two day pre and postnatal fitness specialist course (Fit 4 Two, Can Fit Pro, Family Passages etc) and successfully passing the exam. (b) This means maintaining your pre and postnatal fitness specialist certification. In other words, you have to keep this certification current by renewing it before it expires. 2. The BCRPA registered group fitness instructor must use the health screening tools provided by CSEP. (a) This means that when working with prenatal women, you must collect a completed/signed (by woman and her healthcare provider) PARmed-X for Pregnancy before allowing them to participate in your fitness class. (b) This means that when working with postnatal women, you must collect a completes/signed PAR-Q or if necessary, PARmed-X, before allowing them to participate in your fitness class 3. The BCRPA registered fitness instructor must do their due diligence to keep babies safe and out of harms way (a) This means that babies should be in a safe and secure area away from equipment (b) This means that mobile babies should not be moving around the area during class (c) This means that fitness equipment, not babies, should be used for resistance |

This 2-day (16 BCRPA CECs, 14 CMT CECs, 14 AFLCA CECs, 12 MFC CECs) certification is designed to give students equal opportunities of theory and practice. Day One can also be taken by distance education.
