How far into my pregnancy can I swim?

Many women worry about risk of infection if their water breaks in the pool.  Exercising in the water has so many benefits for pregnant women: improved circulation, improved posture and a more restful sleep just to name a few.  However, if you are showing any signs of labour, it would be best to avoid public pools. 

One of my favorite birth books is The Birth Partner by Penny Simpkin.  Click here for some of the signs of labour that Penny outlines in her book.

When Can I take my workout to the next level?

If you can answer YES to ALL of the following questions, then you are ready to take your workout to the next level:
1. I no longer/very rarely suffer from incontinence.
2. I do not have an abdominal separation.
3. I do not have any musculoskeletal injuries.
4. I have been doing cardio vascular endurance exercise 3-5 days a week, for 30+ minutes, for at least 6 weeks.
5. I have been doing muscular endurance exercises 3 days a week for at least 6 weeks.
6. I do not have any exercise associated joint pain.
7. I feel energized and positive after I exercise.
