 Have you registered for Swim for Diabetes? Swim weekend is just 5 days away but there is still time to sign up. Help us pool together for a good cause!

 

Kick off Swim Weekend!

Join us Friday April 20 at SPIRE Institute in Geneva to kick off Swim for Diabetes weekend with a rootbeer float at Float-In Movie Night featuring the movie Dolphin Tale. Bring your own float and relax in the warm water pool, have fun with family friendly pool games, or stay dry on the pool deck. Concessions for purchase will be open throughout the evening.

    • 6:00 to 9:00 PM: Open swim
    • 6:00 to 7:00 PM: Rootbeer floats
    • 6:00 to 7:30 PM: Pool games for kids
    • 7:00 PM: Dolphin Tale begins
    • 9:30 PM: Dolphin Tale ends; pool closes

 

  • Join fitness instructor Dayna Aten at Twinsburg Fitness Center for a special twist on the energizing workout class, Zumba. Aqua Zumba will take place on April 22 at 12:00 PM. This class costs a minimum donation of $5.00 per person. Please call 330-405-5757 with any questions.

    • The Downtown YMCA parking lot is controlled by Cleveland State and parking passes must be on all dash boards or hanging on the rearview mirror. Come in on the day of the Swim at the Downtown YMCA and ask for a FREE parking pass at the front desk. Participants should take the pass out to the car before they actually go to change and swim so as not to receive a parking ticket.
    • Unfortunately, Berea Rec Center's pool is closed due to repairs. For those registered to swim at Berea Rec, please visit our website for alternative locations and times. Nearby options include:
      • Strongsville Ehrnfelt Rec Center Sunday, April 22 from 9:00 AM to Noon
      • Baldwin-Wallace Lou Higgins Center Saturday, April 21 from Noon to 3:00 PM

  • We are offering FREE packets of diabetes information to distribute at family reunions in order to increase diabetes awareness among African Americans. Each "African American Family Reunion" packet includes information about diabetes, healthy soul food recipes, a fan that includes the signs and symptoms of diabetes, and activities for children.   • Drop by the Diabetes Partnership office at 3601 S. Green Rd. Beachwood to Ask a Diabetes Educator every Friday from 10 to 11 AM and 2 to 3 PM. This friendly and open forum is for you to ask our experienced diabetes educators questions about diabetes or the prevention of diabetes. No appointment needed.   

 

  • Meet one on one with a registered nurse or registered dietician at Diabetes Partnership of Cleveland's office  to discuss your diabetes self-management plan! Office hours are Monday through Friday 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM. Call 216-591-0800 to schedule an appointment today.
