A Quick Look At News You Need to Live Well

 

 

 Education & Support:

  • The next session of DAGC's Diabetes Matters™ Empowerment Group at the Beck Center for the Arts in Lakewood will take place Wednesday, May 18 from 10:00-11:30 am. Call Siri at 216-591-0800 for more information. 
  • Join us for a free Chronic Disease Self-Management Program each Wednesday June 1-July 6 from 1:30-4:00 pm at the Diabetes Association of Greater Cleveland office in Beachwood. Registration is required and can be made by calling 216-591-0800. 
  • The next session of our DAGC Diva Empowerment Group will take place at our office in Beachwood Saturday, June 4 from 9:30 am-noon.  We'll be talking about tools for making lifestyle changes.  All are welcome! Call MaryAnn at 216-591-0800 for more information.
Camp Ho Mita Koda:
  • Registration for Camp Ho Mita Koda is open. Residential sessions and daylong programs are available. Visit www.CampHoMitaKoda.org for registration information. Financial aid is available. And don't miss our Open House Saturday, June 18. 
  • HELP WANTED:  Camp Ho Mita Koda has a few positions available, including licensed medical staff (RNs and LPNs). Check out the job descriptions and camp session dates on www.CampHoMitaKoda.org.
  • Camp Ho Mita Koda, in partnership with the American Diabetes Association and the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, will offer a free program for parents/guardians of children with diabetes called Diabetes at School Thursday, May 26 at 6:00 pm at the Cleveland Clinic Family Health Center on Rockside Road.  Click here to register or call 216-591-0800 for more information.
  • Camp Ho Mita Koda will hold its annual Spring Bicycle Ride Saturday, June 11 along the Towpath Trail in Cuyahoga Valley National Park. The ride is open to anyone over age 12. Dr. Doug Rogers will lead the 24-mile-long ride beginning at 10:00 am.   • It's almost time for DAGC's 20th Annual Golf Tournament presented by Consolidated Graphics Group, Inc. The tournament will take place Monday, June 6 at Canterbury Golf Club in Shaker Heights. Visit  www.dagc.org/golftournament.asp for details.
  • DAGC is selling raffle tickets throughout the year for  a beautiful "Rings of Hope" handmade quilt raffle. Tickets are $5 each or 5 for $20. Visit www.dagc.org/quilt.cfm for details and to see a photo of the quilt. Drawing will be held at DAGC's Promenade fundraiser on October 29, 2011. (You don't have to be present to win.)
Other Community Events:
  • The Cleveland Clinic will hold its 16th Annual Diabetes Day Friday, May 20 at the InterContinental Hotel and Bank of America Conference Center. This event is geared towards health care professionals who care for patients with diabetes. DAGC will be one of the exhibitors at this event.  For more information and to register, please CLICK HERE.
