November is "Diabetes Awareness Month." Almost 24 million people in the United States have diabetes, and 57 million adults have pre-diabetes.  Most of us know someone who has been impacted by diabetes in some way--either they have the disease themselves or they know someone who does.
During this month, the Diabetes Association of Greater Cleveland continues to reach out to those in our community who are affected by diabetes.  In November and December, we're offering our "Dining with Diabetes" program for those looking to take more control over their disease. The DAGC Divas and Type One Parent Support Group continue to offer monthly advice and friendship to those looking to share their experiences. Our diabetes educators are always available to answer your questions or point you in the right direction towards better health.
Though November is "Diabetes Awareness Month" on the calendar, it is "Diabetes Awareness Month" all year long at the Diabetes Association of Greater Cleveland.  We look forward to helping you.
Diabetes Awareness Month: Be Aware and Care
November is "Diabetes Awareness Month," a month-long campaign to raise the awareness of the causes, effects and treatments for this often misunderstood disease.  Since 1991, November 14 has been recognized as "World Diabetes Day."  This date marks the birthday of Dr. Frederick Banting who discovered insulin with physiologist Charles Best in 1921. Many diabetes-related organizations around the world, including the Diabetes Association of Greater Cleveland, make a special point this month to further educate people about diabetes-the only disease that affects almost every system in the body.Man and woman
