Healthy Hint
It's Dental
Health Month!
Good diabetes management is important for a healthy mouth. High glucose levels in saliva can help bacteria grow, so be sure to brush your teeth twice a day with a fluoride toothpaste and floss between teeth once a day to remove decay-causing dental plaque. |
We need you to help make this year's Swim for Diabetes and SCUBA for Diabetes the best ones ever! Sign up today to help at one of our more than 70 pools around town.

DAGC Dialogue Helen M. Dumski, MA, RD, LD /President & CEO
For several weeks each summer, Camp Ho Mita Koda is filled with the laughter and activities of more than 300 campers enjoying the 72-acre camp in Newbury. Despite several inches of snow on the ground right now and a frozen camp lake, Camp Ho Mita Koda is not hibernating during this time of year. Once campers go home in August, Camp Manager Julie Hewitt supervises the clean-up of the grounds, inventory of supplies and any necessary repairs throughout the camp. Then she begins plans for the next summer. Currently, she is hiring staff for a variety of positions for this summer--Camp Ho Mita Koda's 80th year. If you or someone you know is interested in being a part of the 2009 Camp Ho Mita Koda staff, click here to read job descriptions and to download an application. During the fall and winter, Julie also plans off-season camp activities such as the Camp Ho Mita Koda Halloween event as well as the Camp's fall and spring bicycle rides along the Ohio & Erie Canal Towpath Trail. These activities have become a wonderful way for campers to stay connected to their camp friends throughout the year. The snow may be falling but registration for the 2009 Camp Ho Mita Koda season is open, and friends are signing up for another exciting summer at Camp. Reserve your camper's spot on-line at camphomitakoda.org soon, as sessions do fill up quickly. As Camp Ho Mita Koda eventually thaws from this season's snows, Julie and her staff will be ready when Camp comes alive for this milestone year. |
