While many hotel development plans remain frozen due to investor pullout during the recession, there appears to be a thaw in Mexico. Word is that Posadas de Mexico, the eight-brand hotel company affiliated with hotel operator and investor Grupo Posadas, has plans to build 36 hotels in the next three years.
The properties are slated for midsize, interior cities, such as Zacatecas and Oaxaca. The hotel development could be tied to the return of Mexicana to the skies this summer. New owners purchased the carrier after it filed for bankruptcy and grounded its aircraft last summer. Presumably the new hotels will be located right along the flight path of Mexicana's route network.

Should planners try to negotiate resort fees out of a contract or simply focus on getting the best deal possible on the room rate?
